OVERVIEW
Everest Base Camp Track is one of the best hiking destinations in the world. It's become more popular among the mountain lover, after setting off on the epic journey to Mt. Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa in the 1950s. Everest Base Camp Track is the perfect way to explore Mother Nature, Himalayan scenery in the UNESCO World heritage site Sagarmatha National Park, Highlander's livelihood, and Sherpa’s tradition, which have been carried out for centuries. Everest Base Camp Track embarks Tenzing Hillary Airport at Luka after a short scenic flight from the capital city Kathmandu and follows the Bank of Dudh Koshi River with charming Sherpa settlements, Buddhist Chorten, Wall painting, and the towering peaks of Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru before getting in Namche Bazaar. The trail ascends steeply to the Namche Bazaar after the cross-Hillary suspension bridge at the confluence of Dhudha Koshi and Bhote Koshi. Due to air traffic at Kathmandu Airport, there is not available direct flight from Kathmandu to Lukla during the trekking high season (September, October, November & March, April, and May). So, you need to fly Ramechhap to Lukla instead of Kathmandu, after a 132km drive for 4 to 5 hours.
