2012 LINKS Teleconference Series Whether you just received a diagnosis of MS or have been living with it for a long time--the goal of this series is to “link” you with information and tips on how to maintain your quality of life in the years ahead. The nine week series will run Tuesday nights (7-8 pm) from April 3 through May 29, 2012. Each call will be conducted using a toll-free number, so you can call from the comfort of your home. Participate in several calls or just the one that interests you. Please register at least one week prior to your desired call.

April 3rd Health Insurance: Your Rights and Responsibilities

April 17: Improving Your Lifestyle through Financial Planning

Confusion about health insurance is common. This call will provide an overview of the major sources of health coverage for people with MS, with an emphasis on your rights and responsibilities as covered individuals.

Maintaining financial security is a high priority for people living with an unpredictable disease like MS. This discussion will include: assessing your income versus expenses, reallocating resources, benefits that are available through the government and employers, as well as resources for further information.

April 10th: Mental Gymnastics: The Power of the Mind to Hurt & Heal Come explore how emotional intelligence—the ability to identify, assess, tolerate, express, and effectively manage difficult emotions— results in a higher quality of life and an improved state of well-being.

April 24th: MS & Depression It is estimated that 50% of people with MS experience a major depressive episode at some point. Join us to address factors that can impact your emotions and outline depression vs. normal grieving, symptoms of clinical depression, and treatment options.

World MS Day is May 30, 2012: Join the Global Movement to End MS! Thank you for all your support during MS Awareness Week**; however, our job is not done! WORLD MS DAY is May 30. Let’s build on our momentum and get the word out about this unpredictable disease.
