Employment Teleconference Series Multiple sclerosis can have a significant impact on every aspect of your life, including the world of work. Therefore, we are pleased to offer you a 6 week series of teleconferences on a variety of employment topics. This series is designed to help you learn about the ways MS can affect employment, learn some strategies for maintaining your place in the workforce, and learn how to apply for Social Security Disability (SSDI). Each teleconference is accessible via a toll-free number. Recordings of each call will be available at the completion of the series, call the chapter to request a copy. January 27 @ 7pm: How to Apply for Jobs in the Fed. Gov’t February 24@ 7pm: Jobs with Flexibility February 10 @ 7pm: SSDI Eligibility and Application Process March 16 @ 7pm: Managing Challenging Symptoms on the Job February 17@ 7pm: SSDI and Returning to Work March 30 @ 7pm: Wellness and Work

MS Family Fun Day: Virginia Living Museum--February 17 from 6-8 pm Everybody needs to enjoy a little fun time! That’s why we’ve created MS Family Fun Days. Get the family together, head for an entertaining event in the community, and have some fun with other families living with MS. So come on out and join us at the Virginia Living Museum Thursday, Feb. 17 from 6-8 pm. We have exclusive use of the museum and you won’t want to miss out on the up close animal encounters we have planned! Registration fee- $4.00/per person. Light refreshments and food will be served. Ongoing Tele-Classes (6 week series lasting 1.5 hours per weekly call) 8 Hours to a Lifetime of Relationship Satisfaction-You will learn the essential skills and communication methods that are necessary for a healthy relationship. You can expect some discussion about MS, but the focus for this course is on the couple and the relationship. Jumpstart Your Relationship: Reclaim Your Well-Being-Different from the 8 Hours teleclass, this curriculum teaches basic communications skills within the context of living with MS. Each call focuses specifically on MS symptoms and discusses healthy ways to talk about them and the emotional reactions they create, as well as practical communication strategies to deal with particular symptoms.

MS Awareness Week: March 14-20, 2011 People all over the nation will be moving it during our sixth annual MS Awareness Week, catapulting our movement toward a world free of MS. There are so many ways for you to take action and spread the word. Let’s get planning, together! Fun Ways to Raise Awareness: organize a “Wear Orange” day at your work or school, conduct a Facebook campaign asking your friends to dedicate their status or profile picture to the cause, plan on sending out “orange” emails and include an MS Awareness Week tagline, or think of your own creative activity (don’t forget to share your great ideas with us!). WHAT WILL YOU DO TO ENGAGE, CONNECT, INSPIRE AND RAISE AWARENESS?
