THESIS Interaction Between Architecture and Context of Night 5th year- 2015 Academic work

Nowaday night time became more and more common to be use for various activity in our urban life but its lack of space and design is what this thesis will be focused on. By questioning how can we shape architecture that could potentially serve nighttime function and concern on the context such as the environment and function itself. Khaosan rd. is the site we use for this project On the reason that its current function already have nighttime function in which we analyse and design program that could support the project. On the conclusion this project show we don’t necessary have to create whole architecture but the problem we question can be solvce through small detail like connecting the space of pedestrian and building.

Khaosan Guesthouse

This thesis has three mandatory parts which are khaosan guesthouse, co-working space and khaosan street.

Co-working Space

khaosan guest house is the main part of this project. Throughout the analysis, Khaosan walking street has a particular diffierences in using space, main activities and special events due to time and spacial occasion whichbrought back to conceptual design of the project. The guest house used the pros from different point of view on the street and voids in order to create right amoung of interaction between spaces and activities. Common Co-working space is the part where the abandon building renovated to. With the potential in structure cause this building is capable in use, thus this building became public coworking space for public use which the idea came from the perspective that in the future this area will increase its density by over-time working people, freelances and start-up. Extension Design Collaborate BANGKOK - 2016 Professional work Architects : Klickken Studio Contractor : P4 Engineering & Klickken Studio

The initial project of my career started with other elements beside a house. These residential are the renovated house and its owners wants to conceal the entire house, so the brief came up with some kind of a wall with design. The design attempted to use a pattern by wood replacement material, conwood, for heaviness feelings. Meanwhile, those edges brought up with some gimmick and wash away the monotonous of pattern and form.

Residential renovation, with designed interior. Shading panel was designed to use wood replacement product and flat bar metal which from side view, thickness of this material will be visibled but in front view will show as two-dimensional material, so shades will differently appear which affect to privacy that could change in particular times.

Meanwhile in the same house, another wood panel was made from 8’’ old woods. All the woods were cut in specific shape of each one and lifted up off the ground to prevent humidity by the flat bar structure which hidden inside the wood and bolted to ground slab and upper beam.

In terms of space management, first floor plan consists of cafe which faces to walkway and also welcome for external users but still remain some space for guests’ pantry which enclosed some part by glass partition. The hotel didn’t totally disconnect from the extension. There’s still a door through reception area which shared between two hotels. Apart from public area in the first floor, second - fourth floor are dormitory area to roof top which is multifunctional.

D-hostel Grand palace’s facade had the inspiration from its surrounding, in historical area of Bangkok which is a prime location for a tourist hostel because located in the opposite of Ratchabopit temple, one of the most important temple in Thailand. The main idea of this facade is to represent the iconic of Bangkok. In another hand by the function inside, living area, need a light filter which the drilled metal sheet could provide that to the space and also filter the heat as well due to this building facing the west.

Technique : The hole size and spacing that drilled on steel plate are different due to create volume of the picture. In terms of construction, steel plate was devided to 1.20 m. wide in each plateand attached with structure behind the panels and also folded the corner to prevent the panel fluttering.

Because of the drilling method, in day-time light went through those holes and lighten up living area of the hostel while at night, light from inside will pass through the faรงade and display lives inside, building along with lives outside. Behide the facade have a extension steel structure fire stair from 4th floor to 2nd floor.

THE STREET HOSTEL KOH LIPE

SATUN, THAILAND - 2016 Architects : Klickken Studio

The 3 storey hostel located on lipe island, Stul province, Thailand. The design process went on both exterior and interior.Because Lipe is a small island, there is no equipment or any mechanical store. Therefore in exterior design part, we decided to use steel structure for convenience in transportation, construction and short time construction. In interior design part we designed as installation art which built-up from the main land then assemble it after the transportation. The mood and tone of overall chose to be old wood and white.

Faรงade design, because of the location is on walking street of lepi island, so the owner expects that the final look of the faรงade and the building as well will pop-up from neighbor buildings and create a new character of this neighborhood on the island. The started idea was from materials which boat ropes are common to be seen in this area and attempt to make different patterns but need to be able to hang tighly bound together by itself. Thus made the construction devided into parts and assembled the together on the island

Interior decoration simply use natural material but contain unique pattern of it own. The hanging installation art was made from weaved bamboo.

All the beds in this hostel were designed as pieces such as the head board and little pieces components, so it’s movable , easy for transportation, packing up for store and be able to re-assemble by two person.

The structure in this house was designed divided into two parts, first is the residential area that use concrete structure and second is the studio which doesn’t need to have any columns, so this part of the house needs to be truss structure. Inside the house, there’re numbers of spaces with high ceiling, so the mezzanines were added to increase using space and vertical connection.
