FOREWORD BY Riiyuukii

When I first came across a cosplayer on Instagram, I was so amazed and in awe at how beautifully a person can portray a fictional character. (For the record, I remember it was Jinx, a League of Legends Champion.) I started looking out for cosplays more than I thought I would. When I was a kid, I always loved making little instruments or props during my free time; every item I crafted gave me a real sense of satisfaction and happiness. Originally, I only cosplayed game characters because of my old love for crafting weapons and armor. Cosplaying gave me a reason to build things just like I did when I was a child, but this slowly involved into so much more. Meeting new people through cosplaying made me more intrigued in anime, and I slowly found myself watching a bunch of anime and cosplaying as my favorite characters. I do still try to find ways where I can craft something for every single costume. As everyone reading this probably know, cosplaying is a super expensive hobby to do properly. It honestly made a HUUUGGGE gaping hole in my wallet. I have always wanted to find ways where I could financially manage this hobby with greater ease. Thankfully, the Velvet Room has helped me find a lot of more reasonably priced ways to cosplay without sacrificing quality. With everyone’s kind words and support, I am able to maintain this hobby of mine and get the motivation to improve on it at the same time. Within this year alone, I have met dozens of people who have given me kind words and gestures and helped me in ways I never imagined. I want to thank all of you so much for supporting my hobby and enabling me to continue doing what I love. The people I have met, the friends I’ve made, and the fans who have supported me through the years are the whole reason why I am still doing what I love to do. Without my crafting friends, I wouldn’t have been able to learn more about my favorite aspect of making a new costume. I never thought I would have been able to construct legit two meter long weapons, but thanks to their love and their guidance, that’s exactly what I’m doing now. Without my cosplay friends, I wouldn’t have been able to feel confident and loved in a society where we are often considered weird or looked down upon. They help me along and wholeheartedly support me through my endeavors. Without everyone else I have met, I would not have been able to grow and become the person I am today. Everyone gave me such positive motivation and encouragement which has allowed me to strive forward to this day. Every constructive criticism, every compliment, and every friendship made all mean something to me, and I am forever grateful to everyone. I’m not even trying to be cheesy, but I truthfully feel that no amount of words or context would be able to express my immense gratitude to everyone. So thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support you’ve shown. I really couldn’t have made it to where I am now without you. I love you guys! T~T
