5 Steps to Keep Your Nursing Scrubs in Excellent Condition Scrubs are not just the essential part of the medical field, they are meant to be clean and sterile at the beginning of each shift. If you’re doing double shifts, your scrubs can wear out easily. With help from NNT Uniforms, you can keep your nursing scrubs in good shape. By following below steps, you will have safely disinfected scrubs.

Wearing Scrubs at Work It seems comfortable for you to throw on your scrubs and go to work. You can make them last longer by not wearing them at home. Always have two pairs of nursing scrubs, keep your clean scrubs in a closet at work. When you finish your shifts, put the dirty scrubs in a separate pliable bag.

Pre-treatment before wash Before wearing your scrubs for the very first time, make sure you wash them with a half cup of vinegar to prevent them from fading. In addition to this, it can extend the life of the scrubs.

Use Two Cycles to Wash Your Scrubs You Just need to sanitise your scrubs. In order to do that, we recommend that you put them through two wash cycles. With good laundry detergent, use cold water in the first cycle. Check for stains at the end of the wash cycle. If you find any stain, use stain remover and repeat the wash cycle.

In the second cycle, it is important all stains are removed before you start the second cycle. In the second cycle, include ¾ cups of colour-safe bleach with hot water to keep your scrubs disinfected and keep their colour. For blood stains, use hydrogen peroxide. Add cap-full of peroxide and some cold water into the stain, rinse scrubs thoroughly for 4-5 minutes and lay them out to dry.

Do Not Mix Them With Regular Laundry You need to wash your scrubs and regular laundry separately. Scrubs need to be disinfected more than your regular jeans and T-shirts. It is important that you not mix them with your other garments.

Keep Them Fresh After washing your scrubs, use a hot iron to press them. It also kills germs and bacteria. By doing that, you can make your scrubs looking neat and clean for a professional appearance. Once you are done with ironing, you can put your scrubs in a clean, dry bag to avoid contamination.

In a nutshell Now that’s how you maintain your surgical scrubs. By following simple steps you can preserve a clean and healthy work-wear.
