DRY CLEANING
ShieldTec garments can be washed in any conventional washing machine using the Permanent Press or Cotton/Sturdy wash cycle with cold or warm water.
Launder with a high surfactant, low alkalinity detergent in cold or warm water for the best cleaning, colour retention and long service life.
Although the care label instructions state ‘Do Not Dry Clean’, this is precautionary as it is critical that the dry cleaning process uses fresh solvent liquor in the final rinse to prevent a re-deposition of dirt.
Synthetic detergents must be used. Some recommended powders are OMO, Castle, Surf, Cold Power, Dynamo, Gows, Radiant, Drive, Fab. DO NOT use soap or soap based washing powders (such as Lux or Persil) as soap deposit build up can adversely affect the flame retardant performance of FR fabrics. AVOID starches, fabric softeners and other laundry additives. DO NOT use chlorine (hypochlorite based) bleaches, as the chlorine can be detrimental to the fabrics colour. For heavy stain removal, including petroleum based stains, dry cleaning is recommended.

NOTE – Garments can be laundered at higher temperatures without damaging the fabrics. Wash bath pH values should not exceed 9 or 10. DO NOT use chlorine (hypochlorite based) bleaches, as the chlorine can be detrimental to the fabrics colour. Soil re-deposition can be minimised by using the correct load size, wash formula and rinse procedure. Tumble drying may be used providing the basket temperatures do not exceed 93°C with a stack temperature between 54°C and 71°C. In all cases, when drying, the garment temperature should never exceed 120°C.
ShieldTec garments can be dry cleaned using Perchloroethylene solvents without impairing the flame retardant properties if dry cleaned appropriately. In order to prevent a re-deposition of dirt removed during the dry cleaning process, the use of fresh solvent liquor in the final rinse is recommended.
