Houston’s New Neighborhood ULI / Hines Urban Design Competition
This project was completed for a student urban design competition. I was the project leader of a multi-discipline team comprised of two architects, two landscape architects, and an MBA student. Together we proposed an integrated mixed-use district for a previously isolated parcel in downtown Houston. Site connections were improved by simplifying the bridge network to the central business district and providing better access to local transit. My role was to lead the conceptual design, coordinate tasks, produce concept illustrations, and keep the team focused and positive.

Engaging Waller Creek Waller Creek Master Plan
This proposed master plan for Waller Creek in Austin, Texas was based on the idea that really successful urban places provide areas for both social activity and ecological functions. The combination of the two is experientially richer for users and necessary to meet the city’s need for clean air, water, and habitat. My role in this project was to conduct extensive site mapping and analysis, designate uses for the district, and create four site designs for areas along the creek.

Site GIS Mapping and Design Illustrations Minneapolis RiverFirst
While interning at Tom Leader Studio, I worked on the Minneapolis RiverFirst proposal to redesign areas along the Mississippi river. One of my primary responsibilities was to map and analyze the site. Using City of Minneapolis GIS data, I created regional maps of habitat, recreation, and storm-water inlets. I also walked the site numerous times to record site features and note ideal and problematic locations for intervention. In addition, I created design illustrations using SketchUp and Photoshop.

Design Illustrations Creative Campus, Residential Community
At RVi, I have extensive experience planning and designing new communities. I start the design process with hand-drawn sketches to develop quick concepts before further refining in AutoCAD and Photoshop. In addition, I use SketchUp to model designs in 3D. The street sections below illustrate a few proposed roadway designs that I modelled for a new community.

The Noodle Pop-Up Park Flint Flat Lot Design Competition
The Noodle was a fun pop-up park proposal that two colleagues and I submitted for an international design competition held by Flint Public Art Project. Our design called for 4,500 foam pool noodles in the form of a gentle wave to bring the “beach to a parking lot in downtown Flint, Michigan. My role was to research popup parks projects and materials, conceptualize the design of the structure, model the project in SketchUp, and create two rendered illustrations of the park. Our proposal was selected as a semifinalist in the competition. Weekend festival
