HEALTHCARE SPROUTED CURE HONOLULU, HAWAII
DESIGN CHALLENGES:
DESIGN
Designing a three floor healthcare facility that includes an urgent care unit, emergency room, imaging and diagnostic center, short-term rehabilitation facility and one floor of the designer’s choice of care. The main challenge of this project was the imense scale of space planning. Learning how a healthcare facility should function was a major learning curve for this project.
DESIGN SOLUTIONS:
The layout of the facility features the most functional arangement of space. The urgent care unit, emergency room, imaging and diagnostics center are located on the first floor. The emergency room is laid out in a circle upon entry that leads to a straight lined, wide hallway to maximize functionality in an emergency setting. The second floor houses short-term rehabilitation and the third floor features a meditative indoor/outdoor healing center. Natural lighting and access to nature is a common theme throughout the whole space. The single bedrooms on the second floor all have private balconies to maximize healing time. Sustainable, natural materials and finishes are used throughout the whole space to aid in the wellness of patients and their families. The emergency room features satellite nurse stations to maximize reaction time and efficient care to patients. PROGRAMS USED: Revit Photoshop InDesign Illustrator
