Well, that may be so but keep in mind that dogs eat almost anything like grass, stones and can even ingest household cleaning substances as your dog is much closer to the ground than you are—these are things that may upset his tummy; hence the diarrhea.

And diarrhea can also be caused by a virus, or a bacterial infection.

Do not be alarmed if your dog vomits often when he has diarrhea. It is important to know then, what to feed a dog with diarrhea that will not aggravate his present condition.

If your dog is generally healthy and active and is only having a bout of acute diarrhea – set him on a 24 hour fast to cleanse his system. If that seems a little too severe for you then you can just cut his food

intake in half. Make sure that he has fresh water that he is drinking every fifteen minutes or so to avoid dehydration.

What to feed a dog with diarrhea? A bland diet of 1/3 lean meat and 2/3 starch is recommended. Boil chicken or any lean meat sans the fat. Chop it up to pieces and mix it with rice, potatoes or cottage cheese. Do not season it with any spices or sugar or oils. You can also include a few teaspoons of pumpkin juice to his meals. Pumpkin helps to firm up stools to a regular consistency, and is said to aid in constipation and diarrhea alike.
