People, plants, and animals could not live and grow on the glaciers. It was hard living anywhere near the glaciers! The glaciers kept the air cold in summer and winter. Some scientists think it was also very windy and dry. Glaciers also kept the land near the glaciers almost frozen all year long. This land near glaciers is called the tundra .
