Mead sixth graders help Santa while he’s sick
Mead Elementary School’s sixth graders from Valerie Reiman’s class share stories of what would happen if Santa got sick on Christmas Eve.
Santa’s Sick By Calvin Muhlbach The little boy heard someone sneeze so he went in the lving room. He saw someone big and round with a big white beard. He said hello. The man turned around and he realized it was SANTA! The little boy said, “Why are you sneezing and coughing.” Santa said “Well I’m sick.” 2 days earlier Santa was at his workshop when he suddenly sneezed. He thought. “oh no. I’m getting sick.” He sneezed and sneezed until finally the coughing came in. Mrs. Claus told him got to bed. So Santa went to bed Mrs. Claus brought him some soup, but Santa didn’t want any so he went to bed. The next day Santa woke up and felt worse. Santa had just remembered that the next day was CHRISTMAS! Oh no Santa started panicking. He thought who would bring the children toys? Who would feed the reindeer? Suddenly the phone ran, it was Santa’s cousin. “Are you ok? I heard you were sick,” said Santa’s Cousin Al. “Oh thank goodness you called,” said Santa. “Why what’s wrong?” said Al. “I can’t deliver the presents,” said Santa. “I will be there soon,” said Al. It was Christmas day when Santa’s Cousin arrived. Santa’s Cousin fed the reindeer and loaded up all the presents. Then they were off. Santa came to he was feeling a little better. At The eighth house they were at something went wrong. The chimney was full of muck and Santa had just gotten a new suit. So they had to go in the front door. They go in the living room when suddenly Santa sneezed and coughed. Santa’s Cousin heard little footsteps but Santa didn’t. Santa’s Cousin went and hid but Santa didn’t. A little boy came out and said hello. Santa turned around and said hi. Santa said, “I have to go so go back to bed” The little boy said ok. “Goodnight,” said Santa.
Bunny Clause By Alexandra L. Degerness It was Christmas Eve and Santa was sick, so he called up his friend the Easter Bunny, also named Nick. He said, “I’ve got the flu so I had to call you to fill in for me on Christmas Eve.” “No, no,” he said, “I can’t. I have to help the Tooth Fair, or else the children will not be merry!” Santa pondered this for a while. Then on the other side of the phone, the Easter Bunny smiled. “I’ve got it!” he said, “I’ll help you first, since you’re sick, then I’ll help the Tooth Fairy. . . St. Nick?. . . St. Nick?” Santa had fallen asleep by the phone, and Mrs. Claus brought him a scone. The Easter bunny had delivered two gifts. He even gave a fellow bunny a lift. Santa called and asked if he was okay. The Easter bunny said “I’m on my way!” The Easter Bunny did it! Christmas was saved! “I’m going to call it a day,” he said. Two hours later Ring Ring “Hello?” asked the Easter Bunny. “WHERE ARE YOU!” screamed the Tooth Fairy, you were supposed to meet me here hours ago”. THE END MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Sick Santa By Jack Munter The elves had known something was wrong Santa hadn’t been in to visit them in a while. Mrs. Claus had known something was wrong to. Santa just wasn’t being himself lately. To see why Santa wasn’t doing well the elves crept into Santa’s house to find him. They went around a corner and found none other than Mrs. Claus herself. The elves were scared Mrs. Claus didn’t like the elves in the house. She said, “Why are you in the house?” The elves were scared but they managed to reply, “We were wondering if Santa is O.K,” said the elf named Riley. “He is not O.K I don’t quite know what is wrong with him.” Replied Mrs. Claus. “Probably just an overdose of hot chocolate.” “O.K” said the elves. On Christmas Eve Santa was still not feeling good. “I’m worried,” said Riley. “Me too” said bob a present wrapper elf. “So let’s do something about it.” Said Riley. “O.K” said everybody. “Let’s do this.”
One hour later everything was good to go. All the reindeer were hitched up, presents wrapped and loaded, cookies baked and hot chocolate poured. “We only have one tiny problem, THERE IS NO ONE TO DRIVE THE SLEIGH!” yelled Riley. “O.K O.K calm down Riely,” Said bob. “We will find someone to drive the sleigh.” “I will drive the sleigh.” Said a voice from the corner. The voice belonged to Mrs. Claus. “I have trained for just this situation.” “O.K. first things first. Turn on the thrusters, then tell Rudolph to lead the pack.” 20 MINUTES LATER “Alright the last house is just up here.” Said the elf who was working the radar. “OH NO WE’RE RUNNING OUT OF STEAM IN THE THRUSTERS!” said the elf who was working with the thrusters. “Switching to reindeer power.” Said Mrs. Claus. “Oh no the reindeer are hurt!” Exclaimed Mrs. Claus. Just then Santa showed up and saved them all. “Thank you Santa you saved the day” they all said. “You’re welcome.” Said Santa. “How did you get over your sickness?” Said Mrs. Claus “I just needed a little of your cookies.” Said Santa. “O.K we just have one more house to go.” Said Mrs. Claus. They got the very last child just what they wanted a new bike. And then after whenever Santa was sick he just ate a cookie. THE END The Horrible Christmas By July Passe One night, a very cold, night Santa got stuck in the chimney. He got sick from being so cold. Santa Claus was sitting near the fire place coughing and sneezing. Mrs. Claus was getting coffee and cookies. He only drinks milk in made up stories. Mrs. Claus came into the room, “Achoo”. “Santa I think you need to go to bed,” directed Mrs. Claus. “I can’t,” Santa replied. “It’s Christmas Eve. It’s not that bad. Let me go on my sleigh. I got seat warmers installed now.” Mrs. Claus rolled her eyes and said, “Fine but I will have the elves come and check on you. “HO HO HO merry Christmas achoo”. Go Blixen and Donner”. “SANTA ITS’ THE ELVES.” “Why are you here?” “We have to check on you remember” “Yeah but I’m doing just fine,” said Santa”. I forgot about my magic medicine slurp “Eww gross, said Santa. I can breathe out of my nose. That’s such a relief. I’m feeling a lot better now”. “Both hand on the rope please,” yelled Dasher. “My gosh we will all get hurt with wacky driver.” Said Dasher. “Oh I’m just fine. I am very skilled,” said Santa. “Tree!” said Dasher! “AHHH,” yelled Santa. “Skilled, right said Dasher. “Oh, whatever.” said Santa. Ok all the presents are delivered. MERRY CHRISTMAS!” Sub Santa By: Audra Delancey December 24, 2020 AaaaaHHHHHHHHH aaaaaaaaHHHHHHHHHH COOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! “EARTHQUAKE” Rudolph shouted. “It wasn’t an earthquake, that was Santa sneezing. He’s had the bug all week,” an elf told him. “Poor Santa and Christmas is only two days away” “Santa as your wife I command that you stay in bed. You can’t deliver presents like this and with that sneeze you are no better than the Big Bad Wolf,” I say. “But-: “NO Buts about it” “Fine but who will deliver presents?” “We’re going to have to call the HDT (Holiday Dream Team) to find out. I’ll go get the phone,” “OH Brother” Santa moans. December 25 2020 at the meeting: “Okay HDT we need a replacement for Santa ASAP” I say. “We’re busy” they say in unison. “Fine I’ll do it myself. December 26, 2020 6:15 p.m. “Load the sleigh, hook up the reindeer. Then we’re off,” shouts the head elf. It takes about 15 minutes, but finally the sleigh is ready. I climb in the polished red sleigh. I’m wondering why I volunteered for this. Then as fast as a rocket the sleigh takes off. “AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH” I scream at the top of my lungs.”
PER SANTA, you can do anything.” “Hahahahahahah!!!” “Hey, I just got a SUPER SANTA idea. I can deliver presents, but you are coming with me.” “Oh, I understand now, I will come with you and if something happens I can be there to help.” “Yeah!!” “All elves to the meeting room.” “Okay, you have eight hours to make all the toys” Christmas Eve night “Are you ready to go Santa?: “Yes, Ma’am!!!” “Get in the sleigh!!!” “Let’s go” Santa got the toys to each house in the kick of time. All the children were happy with their Christmas gifts. Hohoho!!!!!Merrry Christmas!!!!
I sit right up in bed “Thank goodness it was just a dream” I whisper to myself. Sick Christmas By: Hunter Pickworth Santa, on top of the roof, was feeling very, very, very sick. He ran down the chimney. He ran into the restroom and puked. He puked out rainbows. Two days ago he was eating Chinese. The Chinese poisoned the food because they hated Santa so much. Santa ran right to the restroom puking out rainbows. Santa said, “That isn’t right. I don’t think I will not go to Christmas.” Santa walks to the factory where the elves make the toys. Santa announced to the elves, “I will not be going to be delivering the presents.” The elves are the shocked. Santa said, “I will have to give Sandman a call to pick them up and deliver them to all the people in the world. If he doesn’t then I will train one of you elves.” One of the elves said, “I will do it. I will do it for you Santa.” Santa said, “I knew I could count on you elves.” Santa went to his bed without grief. 1 day later. . . . . It is Christmas Eve and all the elves are going crazing by making so much stuff. They are all so tired. Santa is feeling better. 1 more day later. . . . . Santa decided to go on Christmas, delivered all the presents, was feeling good about the delivering the presents and all happiness came to him. Santa is very happy. Mrs. Claus I so happy for her husband that she bought him a chocolate bunny with caramel inside. Santa said, “Thanks.” The end!!!! Santa is Sick! By: Kelly Richards “Mrs. Claus,” Santa said. “I don’t think I can make all of my deliveries tonight, cough, this year my cold has got the best of me.” Santa was sitting on his comfy, leather chair with his feet up, and a thermometer in his mouth. “Mr. Claus, I mean Santa, you can’t miss Christmas! All of the kids are counting on you to leave their presents under the tree!” Mrs. and Mr. Claus looked sad, confused and a little bit angry all at the same time. “I’ll do it not for you, you should be doing it, but for the children.” When she finished, Mrs. Claus left without Santa’s approval, she already knew that she couldn’t do it alone, so she went to the elf bunker and woke up all of the elves. “Elves,” Mrs. Claus said as she woke them up. “we have a job to do!” She got all the elves rounded up and told them her plan. Three elves got the sled, on Mrs. Claus’s command, four went to calm Santa and fourteen went into the workshop. 80-3=77. 77-4=73. And 73-14=59. She thought the 59 elves could pass the message she was going to give to the other 21 elves. “Ok, for now on I’m not Mrs. Claus on this trip, I’m MC, short
for Mrs. Claus.” “Okay Mrs. Claus . . . , MC.” They said with hesitation. At Santa’s Workshop . . . . . “Now, we need to gather up all of these toys for Mrs. Claus!” The head elf, Herbert, said and all of the other elves nodded. They work, work, work together and finally all of the 40,000,000 presents are in 50 big Santa bags, 1 for each neighborhood they deliver presents to. They meet up with the four elves that were calming Santa down. “So,” Herbert asked impatiently. The elves were catching their breath, then they said, “Santa . . .is . . . asleep.” “OK, Santa is asleep.” Perfect. “Now go tell Mrs. Claus!” Herbert barked out commands. The elves left and Herbert and the elves, with him, followed Herbert to the sleigh. At Santa’s MC’s sleigh . . . . The reindeer were tied up to the sleigh and MC was there in the sleigh. All of the elves were with her. They helped Herbert and the other elves load up the 50 big bags of toys into the back of the sleigh. The elves told each other to call Mrs. Claus, MC. The elves gave Santa something special for him to drink, a special home remedy as you might say. When Santa wakes up he will be all better! The side effect was that he wouldn’t wake up for 5 hours so with the little time they had they were off! At The Last Town MC and the elves were at their last stop for the night. MC had done it! She had wanted to deliver the presents to children all across the world. She climbed in chimneys and saw the darlings in bed. She, and the other elves, would be known for ever as MC, the one who saved Christmas. THE END The Christmas Eve Problem By: Mystic Hartgrave Sniffle, sniffle, sniffle. Jolly O Saint Nick was slouching in his rocking chair two days before Christmas Eve. “Oh Santa,” says Mrs. Claus, “It’s only two days before delivering day.” “Oh Mrs. Claus you’re not making it any better. “What am I supposed to do now?” “Well you have to realize you still have two days to get better.” “But, I don’t have any medicine or anything.” “Well, all you need to do is rest and you will get better. Just like all the little children do. But, they listen to their mother just like you should listen to me. Oh whatever!!!!! I’m going to bed.” “If you go to bed I’m going to bed too.” The next day “Well, how are you feeling?” “Sniffle, sniffle, sniffle. Does that answer your questions?” “You have to stop being so crabby.” “Well I can’t deliver presents, would you be crabby?” “Yes I would, but you are SU-

Mrs. Claus came in and asked, ‘Do you feel any better?” “No, not at all I just feel worse.” “Do you think you can attend Christmas?” “Do you think you can do it for me?” “No you’re Santa not me.” “The kids would not know.” Christmas morning and Santa is still in sitting on bed. ‘I am getting ready to go out do you need anything before I go.” “No, should be fine.” “Make sure the reindeers are in the right order.” “Ok see you tomorrow.” Christmas Day and Santa is still sick. Mrs. Claus gave all the kids their gifts they wanted. Christmas was saved. The end A SICK CHRISTMAS BY BAYLEY LACROIX Santa got sick on Christmas.

SANTA SICK ON CHRISTMAS! By Alexis Johnson Once upon a time on a cold, frosty morning Santa was sick! There was tissues EVERYWHERE. Mrs. Claus took him to the doctor. They said that he had the stomach flu and also strip throat. What will Santa do? Santa thought and thought and thought. Finally light bulb maybe . . .NO! WAIT maybe the . . .NO. How about the . . . NO. Well the elves could just do it or even Mrs. Claus. Santa went down to the work shop. He asked Mr. Elfie if he could do it but he said, ‘Who is going to be in charge for next year?” “Yeah I guess,” said Santa. I will ask Miss Beth. She said, “What about the children? I guess I understood, but who will deliver presents?” Santa called everybody he knew, but then LIGHT BULB. He ran to the phone (well slowly ran to the phone), dialed the emergency phone number, and talked to all the people like the Easter bunny, the Thanksgiving Turkey, leprechaun, the Halloween monsters, the Presidents, the cupids’ arrow, and my mom. They said anything for you Santa! So they all went there right away. Because you know it might take while. Santa kept getting worse and worse. So Mrs. Claus took him to the doctor again. He asked them If they had anything thing else they could do for him. The only thing they could do was have him stay there or take it easy for a while. Well Santa can’t do that that is for sure. So he went home and “took it easy.” Christmas Eve Santa got all dressed up in his suit in all. His sled full of boxes of tissues and got out his reindeers out in ready. WOOOOOOSH! He went. He already had been to 90,093 houses and only 125,300 to
go! When at his last house started, he to get dizzy. Good thing the SHSH was near (super holiday super heroes.) They helped Santa finish his trip. Mrs. Claus was not happy about this all. The End

It was all over the news. People were wondering if there was going to be a Christmas. The kids were crying because they weren’t going to get the stuff they wanted. The parent were trying to calm them down. They know Santa won’t give up on Christmas. At the North Pole, Santa was not feeling so go so he went to lay down. He turned on his TV and watched the news. The news said, “It looks like it won’t be a jolly Christmas, because Santa was sick.” Santa said, “who told the news that I was sick?” A few hours later, Santa got up. He went to go and feed the reindeer. Mrs. Claus said, “What are you doing? You should be laying down.” Santa said, “Well, someone has to feed the reindeer.” Mrs. Claus said, “Well after you are done, go back and lay down. Mrs. Claus went back to the kitchen to make soup for Santa. Santa went back to lay down. One of the Elf’s came into Santa’s room. The Elf said, “Are you feeling better to ride the sleigh.” Santa said, “Not really.” Elf said, “Ok just making sure.” Santa woke up this morning and felt really better. He said that, “I’m ready to go.” Mrs. Claus said, “Ok that soup must have help you. I put a secret thing in there that would make feel better.” Santa said, “Ok, thank you.” The elves got the sleigh all ready and the reindeer hooked up to the sleigh. Santa took off and said, “HOHOHO.”
The Reindeer Flu By Alex Hannan It was Christmas Eve and Santa was sick. He thought he had the Reindeer Flu. 5 DAYS EARLIER Santa was walking down the present hall when his wife walked past him coughing. He asked, “Are you coming down with something?” She said, “I don’t know.” So they both kept walking their own ways. The next day he was walking and saw one of his elves. The elf was coughing. Santa said, “Jeez everybody has a cough.” The next day Santa started coughing. He said, “I can’t be sick. It’s almost Christmas!” It was still 4 days till Christmas. Santa was walking down the hall to an open door. Four of his elves were sick. Santa ran right to the phone to call the doctor. The doctor didn’t come till the next day. When he arrived Santa wasn’t feeling well himself. The doctor said the he needed everyone that was sick to come to this room. So they gathered up everybody in the room. The doctor stayed there and found out what they all had. The doctor said he only has some bad news. He said that they all had The Reindeer Flu. He said, “The only way to cure it was to get rid of the Reindeer and get new ones, you also have to have a four night rest.” Santa yelled out, “WE DON’T HAVE 4 NIGHTS!!!!!” They finally came to an agreement. The doctor would go home and find some medicine for them. He went home and got some medicine and came back two days later. He gave some medicine to them all. The doctor said, “You still had to get a day’s rest.” So Santa went to lay down for the night. He woke up the next morning and the next day he delivered presents. Christmas is Saved By Lauren Holloway “This isn’t good,” said Mrs. Claus. She was taking Santa’s temperature, and it was 102 degrees Fahrenheit. Santa said, “This can’t be happening.” He was up all night puking marshmallows. Santa asked, “What are we going to do” They pondered about how they would pull Christmas off. Then, Mrs. Claus had an idea. “I’ll do it,” she said, “I’ll take care of Christmas.” Santa did not like the sound of that. But Mrs. Claus wouldn’t hear it. She put on Santa’s suit, roped up all of the reindeer, and put all of the toys in the sleigh. Mrs. Claus got her trusty elf advisor, Wesley, and they were off. Their first stop was Fremont, Nebraska. Mrs. Claus landed the sleigh on the first roof they saw. Mrs. Claus wondered how she would fit down the chimney. Wesley handed her a water bottle filled with a glowing yellow liquid. She drank it and in an instant, she was as skinny as a toothpick. Wesley said it was a potion that makes you skinny, so you can fit down chimneys. So Mrs. Claus slid down the chimney, as quiet as she could. She strolled over to the tree and put down the presents. She thought to herself, “This is going to be a piece of cake.” But as she turned around, she heard a low growl. She saw a dog right in front of her, and he did not look happy. Mrs. Claus said, “Nice doggy. Nice big doggy.” She

slowly walked backwards towards the chimney, and then scrambled up it. She said to Wesley, “This is going to be a long night. 18 HOURS LATER “So how did it go?” asked Santa. He had plenty of rest and was all better. Mrs. Claus said, “Well let’s just say it wasn’t perfect, but it wasn’t terrible.” All of the children had presents under their trees and candy in their stockings the next morning. But it wasn’t normal candy. It was maple bacon suckers. Oops! THE END How the Elves Saved Christmas By Riley Langemeier Achew! Santa sneezes. He wondered how he was going to deliver all these presents. Mrs. Claus his wonderful wife said he could just see how his day will go, but Santa knew he would not be able to go deliver the presents. The news got around and the elves were devastated. They knew Santa Claus could not miss Christmas so they were going to do something about it. They went to the North Pole’s finest doctor’s office and asked if they could do anything about it but all they said was it was just a cold. He was going to fine and there was no need for medicine. But they didn’t give up yet. They went to Santa and asked how he was doing. They said that maybe he could just deliver them on Christmas day in the afternoon, but Santa said everybody would see him reveal his identity. The elves thought and thought, but they didn’t know what to do. Then the idea hit them! They could do it themselves. They went to Santa and asked if that was ok. He said yes but was a little hesitant. The elves got everything ready, put all the Christmas gifts in the sled, and fed the reindeer. They picked the best elves which were Rosy, Elliot, and Jack. Rosy was very excited to bet the first ever girl to ride in the sleigh. Elliot was excited too but was worried about messing everything up. Jack was the most excited because he would be the one putting the presents under the Christmas tree. The elves got in the sleigh and said their good byes. Then they took off! Rosy asked, “Where is our first stop?” Jack said, “New York City.” Elliot said, “Great!” They went to all the houses in New York and then made their way around the world. Then without thinking they made their way back to the North Pole. Once they made it back, they went to Santa’s office and said they were finished. Santa wanted to double check and make sure they were done so he took out his map he asked if they made it to Wahoo, Nebraska. They said, “No we must have missed it. Santa then said they must go back and deliver the presents so they did. They delivered them and when they made it to the last house, they met a little boy named Carter. He was wide awake with cookies by his side and a glass of milk. Carter asked, “Where is Santa Claus?” Rosy said, “He was very sick and could not make it.” Carter sighed and he said ok. Rosy said good night and wished him Merry Christmas! She and Jack went back to the sleigh and headed back home. They met Santa Claus standing outside. He was smiling and full of joy. The elves got out of the sleigh and Santa yelled, “You saved the day!” A Sick Christmas By Kyla Hrdlicka “SANTA CLAUS!! The doctor said you have to stay in bed,” said Mrs. Claus. Santa was sitting in the sleigh, loading toys for all the little boys and girls all over the world. “I will rest after I deliver all the toys,” said Santa. As Santa started to leave, the reindeer stopped. “What are you doing?” Said Santa. “We have to let you rest,” said Donor and Blitzn.” “They are right,” said Mrs. Claus. If you were there, you could see that Santa was not very happy with Mrs. Claus and his reindeer. “WHAT!!” Cried Anna the elf as Mrs. Claus told her that Santa was sick. “There’s no possible way. It can’t be!” she thought in her head over and over again and again.
when I was delivering presents, I could still take some cookies,” Santa said. When Santa went to the workshop where the elves were, Santa said, “let’s get ready for next year.”
“Santa and I thought that you could deliver the presence for him. “Said Mrs. Claus in a worried voice. How? thought Anna. “How can I deliver the presents?” “Take the sleigh, of course.” Said Mrs. Claus. “Okay, I think I can do it?” As Anna took off in the sleigh, she was wondering how long it would take her to deliver all the presents in 1 NIGHT! “There’s the first house.” She said. As she landed on the roof she felt a little bit nervous. She has never done this before. Who knows what could go wrong? “Here goes nothing.” Said Anna. “Good luck,” said all the reindeer As Anna was approaching the chimney, she was wondering how Santa fit in something that small. “OUCH!!” Anna cried as she fell through the chimney. “MOM!” OH NO Anna had woken up the little girl who lived in the house. Anna looked and looked for somewhere to hide. “Perfect, under the tree should do.” Said Anna. Anna did not hear anything anymore, so she decided to come out from under the tree. “I should have thought about all the pokey pine needles before I went under the tree.” Said Anna. She left the presents under the tree and went back up to the sleigh. House after house she went delivering toys to every boy and girl I the world. Anna had successfully, single handedly, made Christmas happen. Problems in the North Pole By Grace Popken It was Christmas Eve and Santa wasn’t feeling so good. He had been coughing up marshmallows all night and wasn’t feeling any better. Santa started to get out of bed but then fell back in. “There is no way I can deliver gifts feeling this sick,” said Santa. Just then Mrs. Claus came into the room with a big bowl of soup. “Here, eat this soup. It will help you feel better,” said Mrs. Claus. A knock came on the door and in walked an elf. But this was no ordinary elf. He was the boss of all the other elves. “Hello sir, we have just finished making all the toys and have loaded them into your sleigh,” said the elf whose name was Zeke. “Are you feeling all right sir?” Cough, Cough. “No I am not feeling all right. But what am I to do? It is Christmas Eve. I should be out all ready delivering gifts, but I am stuck in bed with a nasty cold,” said Santa. “Sir I have a great idea, I can deliver the presents for you along with a few other elves,” said Zeke. “Why that’s a great idea. It could work. I’ll get a few elves ready and you can be on your way,” said Santa. A couple hours later the sleigh, elves, and reindeer were ready and up in the sky. “First house Milky Way Lane coming right up,” said Zeke. He slowed the reindeer, and he and a couple other elves got out with some gifts. They slid down the chimney and were on their
way to the Christmas tree when a little boy appeared. “I didn’t know Santa6 was this small,” said the little boy. “Why I’m not Santa. I’m and elf and I’m delivering the gifts this yer.” Said Zeke. “O, well in that case I’m going up to bed,” said the little boy, then he left. “That was close! We need to be more careful,” said an elf. They zoomed up the chimney and went on their way. They didn’t run into any more children, but they did run into a dog. They went back to the North Pole after a few hours of gift delivering and went straight to bed. The next morning children woke up to find gifts under their tree and candy in their stockings. But the elves didn’t wake up to that good of a surprise. They woke up to a cold and runny noses. “How does Santa do it every year?” said one elf as he wiped his nose. “Ah,” said Santa. “I feel so refreshed. Why I could anything. I should do this every year.” THE END Is Santa Really Sick By Lilyann Brestel Two days before Christmas, Santa Claus was coughing and had a high fever at 102 degrees. He’s throwing up skittles. Mrs. Claus was so worried she was wondering if he can still deliver presents to the lovely kids. But the elves kept working and putting the presents in the bright red bag. The elves were cleaning the sleigh, feeding the reindeer, and wrapping presents. As Santa Claus was fast asleep, Mrs. Claus was right by his side putting a wet new cold wash cloth on his cherry red forehead. One of the elves came bursting in and said “Rudolph is sick”. Santa woke up. “What?” “Oh my!” Mrs. Claus said. “I need to see him now”, said Santa. “No”, said Mrs. Claus. “I will go see Rudolph and you stay here and rest”. As they both approached Rudolph, he was lying on the ground sleeping. Now that Santa was up, he didn’t look sick or his face wasn’t cherry red as before. The next day before Rudolph got up and he felt great and his bright shiny nose was shiner than before. Santa and Mrs. Claus were thinking there’s going to be Christmas after all. Now it’s Christmas Eve and Santa was still sick but he said, “I have to make sure I deliver the presents.” So he moved on and Mrs. Claus was very nervous. Santa got in his suit, gloves, boots, and hat. He got in his sleigh and went to deliver the presents to the good boys and girls. After he delivered the first present he felt all better. Santa ate all the cookies and gave the carrots to the reindeer including Rudolph. When he went back to the North Pole, he felt great. Mrs. Claus said, “Do you feel all better? “Well yes I do. I think the Christmas spirit really helped”, Santa said. “That’s great. Now I’m going to go make some cookies,” Mrs. Claus said. “Ok that’s going to help me even more although I ate cookies

Santa’s Sick Day By Nick Laughlin It was Christmas Eve and Santa was sniffling. Santa was feeling really sick and he didn’t know if there would be a Christmas this year. Mrs. Claus was trying to make Santa Feel better but it just didn’t help. Santa had to puke but he’s no ordinary person, he pukes candy canes. As all the elves surrounded Santa Claus, they asked how he was going to deliver presents. “I will,” came a voice behind the elves. It was Jack Frost. “I have known Santa for a long time. We’re practically family,” said Jack Frost. “No you’re evil,” s a i d t h e e l v e s . They didn’t know whether to trust Jack Frost or not. “I have changed, I’m nicer than I was before,” said Jack Frost. “Fine, we will trust you,” said the elves. “Good, know let’s deliver some presents,” said Jack Frost. Jack Frost was flying the sled when something fell off it was the runners. This was going to be hard to land. As Jack Frost was delivering the presents, some kid saw Jack Frost the kid asked if he was real. “No you’re just in a dream” said Jack Frost. Jack Frost got stuck in a few chimneys and fell off the roofs of houses too. He delivered all the presents and when he got back to the North Pole, Santa was felling a lot better. “Thank you my friend for helping,” said Santa. No problem,” said Jack Frost. The end!!! Santa Needs Help By: Rebecca Halbmaier It was the day before Christmas Eve. Everybody was all so excited! The elves were almost done with their work so all they would have to do during the day on Christmas Eve is load up the presents in Santa’s sleigh and drink hot chocolate. Even though they love their job, they also love a break because right after Christmas, they have to get right back to work on the presents for next year. Santa was still sleeping that morning and everyone at Santa’s workshop, including me, all thought that was kind of strange because he usually is an EARLY riser. I asked his maid Betsy to bring him his apple cider and make sure that he was ok. She went in to check on him while I made sure that all the elves were still on task and not playing with the jack in the box like they were yesterday and the day before. All the sudden, the bell rang throughout the whole workshop which meant that there was an announcement. It was Betsy! I knew that either something really bad happened to Santa or something really good. As Santa’s head assistant, I always get VERY nervous when there is an announcement and he is nowhere to be seen. “Attention everybody,” said Betsy. “Santa is sick with the bad stomach flu and fever! I need the music turned off and all the elves working quietly! No need to panic though! Santa should be better in time for Christmas!” Betsy is usually calm but not this time. I knew she was trying to act calm, but I could tell that she was freaking out. I knew that Mrs. Claus chicken noodle soup would make him feel better, but she was in Denver visiting her
family! This was I nightmare that I had always dreamed of but never made any plans for it! I thought of all the possibilities that I could possibly think of. But then, all the sudden it hit me. I would call a meeting with all the other HSH. (A.k.a. holiday super heroes). I sent a group message to the tooth fairy, the Easter bunny, Cupid, Jack Frost (just because he likes coming to the meetings and SOMETIMES he has good ideas) and all the other HSH. I told them to find the fastest way to get to the North Pole possible. They all got there about twenty minutes. We all sat in the cafeteria and I set out hot chocolate and apple cider for anybody that wanted some and they all did. “Where is Santa?” said Cupid. “He is sick,” I said. “That is why I called this emergency meeting out of the blue!” Then they all started screaming and freaking out and talking all about how Santa has to deliver presents tomorrow night. “ENOUGH!” I said. “I know that he is sick! I know that he has to deliver presents tomorrow! We all just need to stay calm and come up with a plan! I need you all to help and you are not doing a very good job by panicking!” They all apologized and promised not to freak out about whatever else I say. “Thank you,” I said. “I have come up with a few plans for tomorrow night IF Santa is still sick. 1. We could ask the elves if they could build a robot and we can program it to deliver everything. 2. One of you all could it for Santa. 3. Rudolph could do it. (We all didn’t think that was a good idea.) 4. One of the elves could do it. (They have no experience eating cookies and milk so they would probably get sick on the job from eating so much). I knew that we already decided not to do plan 3 or 4. That left us with plan 1 and 2. We talked over the two plans and we decided to try and ask the elves if they could do it. I walked over to the elves and asked if they could make an awesome robot that could easily do Santa’s job without any mistakes. I asked if we could even program it to see exactly where it is going, and even change the route if they went the wrong way. I may have gone a little over board, but if we want everything to go smoothly, we need all of those things programmed into the robot! I didn’t know if the elves could do that and surely, even Freddy the elf who had no trouble with almost any toy couldn’t do it! Maybe this was too big of an idea after all. By this time, it was 9:00 which is late in the North Pole. I decided that we will try again tomorrow but I was too tired to do anything else right now so I was going to bed. The next morning, I headed over to the kitchen where all the HSH were to tell them the news about the robot. When I got there, they all had a big plan! They had it drawn out on a big map and it actually looked really good, but I was hoping that it would be as good as it looked! They came over to me with a chair and motioned me to sit down. I sat down and they told me that I was stressing way too much. I knew that it might have been LITTLE true. “Well we had to come up with some kind of plan! Is this even a plan or just a scavenger hunt that we DON’T have time to do? If it is plan, then we need to over it!” They told me all about how they were going to all ride the sleigh and work together to get every present to every house in the world. I thought that it sounded great! I gave them the route that they needed to go on, the elves packed up the sleigh, I took care of Santa, and all the children got their presents! On Christmas day, Santa decided to let the elves have a break for ONE day, and we drank hot chocolate and apple cider, cleaned up the workshop for the elves to get back to work, and Santa got getter as soon as Mrs. Claus came back and made him her homemade chicken noodle soup.
We hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
