Nieuwe competitie Stuur je filmplan en script voor een korte film in en win € 10.000,- om de film nog dit jaar te realiseren en in première te laten gaan op het Noordelijk Film Festival. Deadline: 1 mei.
Noorderkroon Podium en competitie voor professionele, studenten- en amateurfilms van Friese, Groningse of Drentse makers, of films over deze regio. Deadline: 1 september.

The 48 Hour Film Project / 2-4 nov. Maak met een team een korte film binnen 48 uur. De films worden vertoond en de prijzen uitgereikt op het Noordelijk Film Festival. Deadline: 1 november.

Leeuwarden-Fryslân is Culturele Hoofdstad van Europa in 2018 en het Noordelijk Film Festival – het grootste filmfestival van het Noorden – is natuurlijk van de partij! Tijdens onze 39e editie van 5 t/m 11 november trakteren wij heel veel filmliefhebbers op een marathon aan filmbeleving. En, met de blik op de toekomst gaan we actief aan de slag met filmtalent en jong publiek. Ontmoet elkaar in de bruisende filmbubbel die het Noordelijk Film Festival voor je creëert!

Het festival maakt naam met een unieke Noordse Focus. Een grote filmexpeditie door een breed Noord-Europa: van IJsland, via Ierland, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Nederland tot aan groot Scandinavië en de Baltische Staten. Op het Noordelijk Film Festival deelt een sterke selectie van de nieuwste internationale speelfilms en documentaires het doek met veelbelovende films van professioneel talent tot aan amateurfilmers uit eigen regio.
In de slotmaand, of beter gezegd de re-opening van Leeuwarden-Fryslân 2018, genieten we na van de vele mooie verhalen die er zijn gemaakt en verteld. Briljante verhalen van vroeger en nu, en verhalen die toekomstperspectief bieden. Een mooi thema voor een bredere collectie Europese films die we tijdens het festival vertonen. Films met perspectief op onze huidige maatschappij, op ‘iepen mienskip’, op de wereld om ons heen en op de toekomst.
The Festival is making a name for itself with its unique Northern Focus. A big film expedition through a broad Northern Europe: from Iceland, through Ireland, the United Kingdom and The Netherlands, up to the Scandinavian countries and the Baltic States. A strong selection of the newest international feature films and documentaries share the screen at the Northern Film Festival with promising films from professional talents to amateur filmmakers from the local region.
In the closing month, or rather the re-opening of Leeuwarden-Friesland 2018, we will enjoy the many beautiful stories that were made and told throughout the year. Brilliant stories from the past and present, and stories that offer a future perspective. A great theme for a broader collection of European films at our Festival. Films with perspective on our current society, on open communities, on the world around us and on the future.

Tussen 5 en 9 november is het festival de hotspot voor studenten, jonge en gevestigde filmmakers, scenaristen, acteurs en filmjournalisten in spe. Met (internationale) masterclasses, workshops en pitches, inspiratiesessies, filmblog en vlog tutorials, speciale premières en natuurlijk de nodige netwerkborrels (lees: toffe feestjes!) is Leeuwarden voor even de vetste filmacademie van het Noorden. Samen met New Noardic Wave, het nieuwe Friese filmplatform, geven we het filmklimaat een boost in de culturele hoofdstad van Europa. Ook het jonge publiek maakt kennis met het festival via bijzondere projecten en schoolvoorstellingen.
Het Noordelijk Film Festival vindt plaats in hartje Leeuwarden, hoofdstad van de trotse Noord-Nederlandse provincie Fryslân. Het festival wordt door bezoekers en gasten uit binnen- en buitenland geroemd om zijn gastvrijheid en goede sfeer. Ontdek het zelf!
From 5th-9th of November our Festival is the hotspot for students, young and established filmmakers, scriptwriters, actors and aspiring film journalists. With international, as well as national, master classes, workshops and pitches, inspiration sessions, film blog and vlog tutorials, special premieres and, of course, network drinks (read: cool parties!), Leeuwarden will be the most awesome film school of the North. Together with New Noardic Wave (the new Frisian film platform), we’ll give a boost to the film climate in the Cultural Capital of Europe. On top of that, the youngest audiences experience the Festival through special projects and school screenings.
