4.2.3 Surfing space attributes

Queensland tourism welcomes a surf pool to the city because it would mean the area would attract surfers to the world renowned surfing city.

From a tourism perspective it would be good at attracting and augmenting surfers on the situation where the weather and the beaches are not available. The technology could revolutionize surfing as a professional sport. This situation could encourage people to get into and watch surfing at the stadiums.

Surfing Australia estimates there are about 2.5 million surfers across the country. More than 350,000 people take part in surfing lessons with instructors registered with the body each year. Wave pools could make surfing more accessible parallel with the growing surf community in Queensland.

4.2.3 Surfing Space Attributes:

Architectural elements are the physical components that define the surf centre criteria. The Webber Wave Pool was analysed as the main component since they were the main defining components in Sunshine Park.
