Dear Friends Dear Friends 2020 is a monumental year - it’s our 20th birthday. Ok ... it’s officially in September but the celebrations start right here. So we’ve got cracking on our birthday present list and here’s the big ticket item - no it’s not another scented candle. Actually we’d like the security that Norden Farm will be here, for generations to come. We want to save up for our 21st - and get a key in the door of our new wing. The new wing will give us purpose-built spaces for classes, projects and making new work. To get involved, keep your eyes peeled for the new 21st Key in the Door Fund and help make this happen. Bringing people together in real time, through the arts, pretty much sums up our best feature. This Autumn we launched our new project, ‘Talking Tables’. It’s a simple idea (thank you ‘Fleabag’) so people can meet other people - and talk about the film they’ve just seen. Look for the logo in the film guide for weekday and weekend dates. This Spring we’ll be developing this out to weekend live events, so there’s always a welcoming committee if you’re coming to a show on your own and fancy meeting up with some new people. Or become a Volunteer. You’ll spot them in the fancy yellow shirts around The Farm. Activities include, welcoming visitors, attending special social events / training sessions / helping out with prize draw and ice cream sales / doing roadshows and of course seeing shows and films for free. See the website to join this friendly gang. Spring events I’m especially looking forward to include: Chloe and the Colour Catcher - the first family show from our friends Theatre Ad Infinitum, part of the exciting Quest Family Fest, and Kaleidoscope, a wondrous, magical show for babies. New Artists to The Farm this season include Hashmat Sultana. This sister act, have a banging Bhangra beat and stage presence to match, and West African Afrobeat Tribute band, London Astrobeat Orchestra. Plus new and emerging choreographers, in Scratch, a platform for extraordinary, eye-popping dance. Looking forward to seeing you here soon.
