ASSIGNMENT 1 : CASTING ITERATION ONE SAM GIBBS AND SAM NORDMEYER

IN THIS ATTEMPT WE WERE STRIVING FOR AN ANGULATING FACADE. THIS WAS MADE THROUGH CREATING AN ANGLED SURFACE WHERE THE VARIANCE IS ACHIEVED THROUGH RANDOM PLACEMENT OF MODULES. THE MOLD WAS DEVLOPED SURROUNDING THE CREATION OF THE ANGLED SURFACE WHERE SLICES ARE REMOVED TO CREATE PUNCTURES. AFTER THE BASE WAS CREATED FOR THE MOLD, THE PUNCTURING PIECES GREW INTO SEPERATE PIECES THAT HOLD TO THE THIN ADJACENT BORDERING WALLS. PROBLEMS THAT AROUSE AFTER THE CASTING PROCESS WAS MAINLY EFFECTED BY THE MINIMAL POUR OF MATERIAL INTO THE MOLD. THE VARIANCE OF DEPTH WITHIN THE CAST EXPANDED INTO ISSUES WITH REMOVING IT IN A DELICATE WAY. ULTIMATLEY THE CAST SNAPPED WHERE IT CONNECTED TO ONE OF THE PUNCTURING PIECES. MOVING FORWARD WE ARE WANTING TO EVOLVE OUR MOLD INTO ONE THAT WILL CREATE MORE DEPTH WITHIN THE FACADE DESIGN. WE ALSO WILL NEED TO CONSIDER THE THICKNESS FOR MATERIAL STRENGTH AND EASE OF REMOVING FROM THE MOLD.
