MANPOWER REQUIREMENT 4 people Operator 1 Door Machine Operator performs all machining to door and hinge jamb, including hinge butt application. Operator 2 Door Unit Assembler assembles the frame around the door and applies casing to complete the door unit. Operator 3 450 operator, applies stop to flat jambs and stocks the primary line as well as machining the strike jambs on the 250M. Operator 4 and 5 1020 operator and any custom jamb or door prep. Since the stations shown are not full time jobs, operators 4 and 5 are the same person, filling into supply sub-components to the line as needed. Usually these positions include pulling blank doors and all sub-components.

DOOR HAND All doors are denoted by the direction of their swing, or their “hand.” Before a door can be hung, its swing must be known. Currently, there are two methods used to determine the hand of a door. The first method, the one most straightforward and commonly used, designates the door simply as Right Hand (RH) or Left Hand (LH). To determine the swing of the door, simply face the hinge pin side of the door and note the location of the door knob. If the knob is to the left, it is a Left Hand door. If the knob is to the right, it is a Right Hand door. The other method currently in use designates the door as either Right Hand Reverse (RHR) or Left Hand Reverse (LHR). To determine the swing of the door in this method, face the outside of the door. The outside is the street side of an entrance door, the corridor (hall) side of a room door, or the side opposite the hinge pins on a communicating door (a door that connects two rooms). If the door opens toward you and the hinges are on the left, it is a Left Hand Reverse. If the hinges are on the right, it is a Right Hand Reverse. Although both methods are equally accurate and achieve the required results, the first system is preferred. Before hanging a door, make sure that all concerned agree on the method that will be used. This will prevent confusion down the line when the prehung doors are actually being installed.

3800 DOOR LITE MACHINE ENGINEERED FOR YEARS OF USE TEMPLATE-DRIVEN DESIGN VERSATILE – Free floating machining head with template follower, allows for cutting lites of various shapes and complexity. UNCOMPLICATED - No programming needed. ERGONOMIC - Controls are on the front of the machine, easily accessible by the operator. SAFE - Automatic shutoff when either handle is released greatly reducing the possibility of injuries. Clamping. The 3800 uses 9 clamps during lite cutting and standard lock and latch boring (4 at each end plus lock template clamp). Safety. During lite or lock cutting, the 3800 operator keeps both hands on the control handles. 8-ft Capable. Standard on the 3800. Change-over for doors from 6’6” to 8’0” requires no tools on the 3800. 450 QUICK CHANGE MATERIAL STOP KIT

This kit improves the strength, reliability, and functionality of the 450 stop system. It virtually eliminates breakage due to repeated impact. It makes it possible to accurately position mitered stop on heads. This system also incorporates a quick change arm that makes it possible for the operator to change the setup of the machine in under a minute. The 450 holds the stop a fixed distance from the edge of the jamb as the jamb is processed through the machine. The jamb and the stop are held only in a short area near the nailer. This is to allow for some curvature of the jamb without effecting the position of the stop. As a result it is easy for the operator to position the jamb incorrectly. This kit gives the operator a positive location to locate the edge of the jamb that is farther from the nailer. MAGNUM SCALED INDEX BAR

This kit is for Magnums serial number DJ2001 and above. When machining doors to match an existing frame the most time consuming part of the job is laying out the locations for the lock height and the hinges. The scaled index bar allows for direct reading of the lock height and hinge locations by utilizing three scales. One scale for the lock location and two scales for the hinge locations. There is no longer any need to layout the door. The operator only needs to know the distance from the top of the door to the top of each hinge location. The scaled index bar fits in the same location as the standard quick change index bar. When the backset crank is used “Occasionally” it will last a very long time. Some customers need to adjust the backset several times a day. When it is used this often the threads on the backset crank will wear out prematurely. 5200 CHAIN SLACK DETECTION

This kit is for 5200s serial number LM-5228 through LM-5272. The 5200 feed table and de-stacker table assemblies can sometimes get hung up and the drive would continue to feed the drive chains over the top. The chains could get slack by as much as 6â&#x20AC;&#x2122; before the assembly would come loose and fall. With serial number LM-5273 a system was added that would shut down the machine if the chains became slack. What happens during Planned Maintenance? At the time of the Planned Maintenance service, our certified Field Engineer will replace wear parts, perform all alignments and adjustments, thoroughly test the equipment in production and verify your acceptance of the results. Also, we will evaluate the condition of the equipment and recommend Corrective Maintenance (repairing equipment malfunctions), upgrades and/or modifications that can optimize machine performance. Finally, we will make a careful analysis of the volume on your machinery to establish a PM Schedule tailored to your production requirements. Norfield will track and initiate all future maintenance visits. How often do I need Planned Maintenance? The need for PM visits is determined by the amount of volume run on the machine since the last PM. This is called a Service Interval and it varies by machine (see ‘Service Intervals’ below).
