Feng Shui literally translates to "wind water." And in our lives, we see on a daily basis how important water is for life. It nourishes and cleans our bodies, and offers a wonderful home to billions of aquatic life. In this discipline, it is all about placement. You can start with the front
door to your home. By placing a water feature on the left-side of the door's exterior (inside looking out), you can bring in good luck! There can be too much of a good thing, however. And that means water features on both sides of your front door can lead to unluckiness. Both interior and exterior waters will help to promote proper Qi. It is the same principle of water that we see in our natural environment. Water that is healthy flows and moves, just as Qi should flow and move throughout your home. Remember, however, that just as stagnant water in nature breeds disease, so do stagnant waters in your home. Water is refreshing and cleansing, and those powers can be translated to our homes. Fountains can purify your air and environment, reducing allergens. And they can serve to bring in luck and good wealth! Where should you place water features? Ask yourself where you'd like to enhance learning? Try out an office or kid's study area. Just avoid placing a water feature in a bedroom, bathroom, or kitchen.

Consumer protection laws exist to protect consumers, but laws only work if consumers understand why and how they need protection. Products and services designed to comply with these laws should have explanations of rights and responsibilities incorporated in them, but if consumers don't read the fine print and ask questions for more detail, it's all just so many words. Often the jobs of real estate and mortgage professionals seem easy to consumers because they don't understand the complexity and liability these professionals wade through in each transaction. Emerging kitchen trends in ceramic tile (ARA) - Kitchens cry out for a perfect balance between beauty and practicality. Nowhere is the marriage of form and function more important than in the room where most American families spend the majority of their at-home time together. Ceramic tile is the natural choice for kitchens. Homeowners appreciate its durability and designers admire the flexibility it gives them in creating beautiful, yet practical spaces. Now, advances in tile manufac-
turing, such as digital printing technology, and the endless creativity of homeowners and designers alike, are driving new trends in kitchen design. European influence Gone are the days when homeowners were willing to trade the spare, clean and peaceful look of an open wall for the storage convenience afforded by walls full of cabinets. "Cabinets and countertops were once the main focal point of a kitchen," notes Patti Fasan, Tile of Spain ceramic tile
consultant. "Today, open wall space is demanding more attention." Drawing on European influences, designers are now limiting the use of upper cabinets. Instead, they devote an entire wall of the kitchen to a floor-to-ceiling cabinet, similar to a wall unit, which easily replaces the storage space lost by eliminating upper cabinets. The remaining three walls are either cabinet-free, or boast open shelving units. The open wall space above the countertop becomes a

Increased frequency of compounding means more interest is paid by the borrower. How frequently is the interest on your variable mortgage compounded? X Lenders offer a range of repayment plans, marketed to attract business by making life sound easier and cheaper to consumers. That's business. Along with these variations on traditional mortgages, are those that reduce the choices open to consumers while seeming to increase flexibility. For example, mortgages are contracts set up on two time-frames: 1. The amortization period which is the financial calculation of how long—usually 25 years— it will take to completely pay the debt of principal
and accrued interest; 2. The term which is the period that the interest rate and related repayment terms are set, usually 3 to 5 years or longer. Opportunities to extend the amortization period sound great because they lower monthly payments. This flexibility also increases the amount of interest paid on the mortgage. Since paying off a mortgage may mean paying double or triple the amount of money initially borrowed, how much more can the cost of borrowing increase before you decide this mortgage is too expensive for you? Once the term is set, even if interest rates go down, you'll pay at that agreed percentage for the term. When rates are

Easy Halloween projects that kids - and adults - will love (ARA) - Before the fall wind blows trick-ortreaters to your front door, make the most of the season with a few simple projects that your kids will love and you will too. They’re easy, fun and very affordable. All it takes is a little imagination and a few things you already have around the house to transform your home into Halloween central. “Halloween can be so much fun, especially if you involve the kids,” says Paintideas.com blogger Angie Stinner. “Painting pumpkins or creating simple crafts to decorate your home doesn’t take much time and can be done on a shoestring budget. It’s a great way to share some quality time before the busy holiday season.” Here are a few easy, affordable projects from Angie’s Halloween bag of treats: X Go batty - Create adorable beverage can bats to hang on your porch or anywhere in your home. Just rinse a few empty beverage cans with soap and water and allow to fully dry. Remove the ring that’s attached to each can and bend the can slightly at the middle. Then, in a well-ventilated area like a garage with an open door, lay out old newspaper or an old sheet and spray several light coats of Rust-Oleum Universal Gloss Black spray

Once the plastic pumpkins are painted, let the kids decorate them using markers, puffy paint, stickers or stick-on jewels and they’re ready for a night full of candy goodness.
