WE CAN’T WAIT TO WELCOME YOU TO CAMPUS THIS FALL! MOVE-IN

Move-In is an exciting time on campus and one in which the entire Cardinal community participates! Moving in over the weekend* should allow you the opportunity to settle in and prepare to start classes on Monday, August 24th. There will also be great weekend activities offered to kick off the year, so keep an eye on the events calendar for exciting updates.

EARLY ARRIVAL

Given the additional options for move-in, no individual students will be granted permission to move-in outside of the scheduled times. If you are making plans for a fall job, internship or other obligation, please make sure to take into account that you will not be allowed to return to campus until Friday, August 21st. The only exceptions for early arrival will be fall athletes for pre-season practice/competition, students directly involved in new student orientation and student teachers with start dates prior to August 21st.

CHANGE OF PLANS?

If you have received a housing assignment, but are not returning to North Central College or no longer plan to live on campus, you must cancel your contract immediately. You may cancel your contract online at noctrl.erezlife.com by filling out the Room and Board Release Request Form. As stated in the Room and Board Agreement, a $750 liquidation fee applies to all contract cancellations after July 15th. *Please note that any disciplinary issues during the weekend before classes start may result in both regular disciplinary action and in your immediate removal from the residence halls until classes begin on August 24th.

PREPARING

ABOUT YOUR ROOM

As you begin to plan and pack for the perfect room, be sure to consult the detailed information about your room and residence hall available on our website. This helpful information includes building features as well as room square-footage, fixtures and college-provided furniture.

CONTACTING YOUR ASSIGNED ROOMMATE

Your assigned roommate’s name(s) and contact information is available on eRezLife. To access this information, use your North Central login credentials at noctrl.erezlife.com. Their email address is hyperlinked to their name, found under your housing assignment. We recommend that you reach out to your roommate(s) and discuss what items you each plan to bring—your residence hall room will seem much more spacious without two microwaves, two mini-fridges and two televisions!

BED LOFT RENTAL SERVICE

North Central College works exclusively with Bedloft.com to rent micro-fridges and lofts to students who wish to loft their beds. Micro-fridges and lofts should be reserved and paid for in advance of your move-in date. Lofts rented through Bedloft.com are the only lofts permitted in the residence halls. Bed risers are also not permitted. For more information about rentals or to purchase a futon, visit Bedloft.com.

STUDENT MEAL

Pla n Options

As a resident student you will automatically be assigned the 195 Block Meal Plan. During the first week of Fall semester, you will have the option of changing your meal plan to best suit your eating needs. Meal plans can only be changed during the first week of classes at Kaufman Dinning Hall. The first three block meal plans cost the same amount but vary in terms of where you plan to eat most of your meals. The All Access meal plan is a slightly higher cost. More details regarding your meal plan options can be found at new.dineoncampus.com/NCC.

All students living on campus will be required to select from one of the following meal plan options: 1. 285 BLOCK MEAL PLAN: 285 meal swipes per semester $150 Bonus Bucks 8 guest passes 2. 195 BLOCK MEAL PLAN: 195 meal swipes per semester $225 Bonus Bucks 8 guest passes 3. 110 BLOCK MEAL PLAN: 110 meal swipes per semester $300 Bonus Bucks 4 guest passes 4. ALL ACCESS MEAL PLAN*: Unlimited meal swipes per semester $200 Bonus Bucks 8 guest passes

* The All Access meal plan allows students to swipe into Kaufman Dining Hall as often as they wish. This plan also includes $200 Bonus Bucks and 8 guest passes per semester. The All Access Plan is an additional $671 per semester. The All Access Plan does allow students to use a swipe at another dining location. However, students who use a swipe at another location will not be allowed to swipe into Kaufman until the next meal period. Students who swipe at Kaufman will also not be able to use a swipe at another location during the same meal period.

WHAT ARE “MEALS”? Meals, also called swipes, can be used at the following campus dining locations: Kaufman Dining Hall, The Cage, Moe’s Southwest Grill, and Papa John’s. Your meals are added to your Cardinal Card at the beginning of each semester. Throughout the semester, when you use a meal, it is subtracted from your meal plan.

WHAT ARE “BONUS BUCKS”? Bonus Bucks are part of your meal plan and work like a pre-paid debit card. When you purchase items using your Bonus Bucks, the register will deduct the amount from the balance on your card. Bonus Bucks roll over from semester to semester, but not from one academic year to the next. Bonus Bucks can be used at the following campus dining locations: Boilerhouse Café, The Cage, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Papa John’s.

WHAT ARE “FLEX DOLLARS”? Flex Dollars also act like a pre-paid debit card; however, Flex Dollars are not a part of the North Central College meal plan. Flex Dollars can be used to purchase a wide variety of items including food, books, North Central apparel, school supplies and items from vending machines located on campus. You can add Flex Dollars for your spending needs by going to the Business Office (on the third floor of Old Main) and purchasing them in increments of $25.00 (cash or check) or by going to managemyid.com (credit or debit). Students who do not have meal plans can add Flex Dollars in the same manner. Flex Dollars roll over from one academic year to the next.

WHAT ARE “GUEST PASSES”? Guest passes are meal swipes that can be used for a guest, or person who is not the student card holder. To use a guest pass, students must present their North Central Cardinal Card card to the cashier to be swiped after their regular meal has been swiped. The meal plan holder must accompany the individual using a guest pass during the meal that the pass is being used. Only one guest pass may be used per meal.

MEAL ACCOMMODATIONS If you are ill or otherwise unable to make it to the dining hall for meals, you are encouraged to use the sack lunch or sick tray services available through Kaufman Dining Hall. These can be arranged through the director of dining services and can be made available for pick up. Aside from these services, due to governmental regulations, the removal of food, beverages, glassware, utensils, or china is not permitted from the dining hall without the explicit permission of the director of Dining Services.
