o m e to lc e w NORTH CENTRAL COLLEGE Thank you for joining us for the North Central College Fine & Performing Arts 2020-2021 Virtual Season! We couldn’t be more excited to be able to share these incredibly talented artists with you from the comfort of your own homes in a virtual format. This has been a unique and challenging time, but it is a joy to share fine arts events together virtually, even if we cannot do so yet in person. We kicked off our virtual season in January with The Hit Men followed by fantastic performances in February from The Langston Hughes Project, Mojo & The Bayou Gypsies, and Naturally 7. We opened March with The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Lee Rocker of Stray Cats and the Chicago Sinfonietta. We started April with the Sharpe Family Singers followed by an exciting performance by the Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra. We close out the virtual season in May with actor Robert Neary in “So Good: The Neil Diamond Experience.”
As a thank you for your continued support, we are providing most of these events free with a reservation. Additionally, viewing will be unlimited and available for the entire weekend these performances are released for you to view at your leisure. We hope you enjoy an encore performance or two! At this time, we also wish to express our sincere gratitude for our season sponsors and Friends of the Arts donors—thank you for your generous support this season. We would not be able to bring you these wonderful virtual events and continue working toward future seasons without your generous contributions. PERFO RMER BIOGRAPHY The Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra is a thrilling 11-piece salsa group which plays dynamic, dura arrangements of indie rock tunes we love. No bananas in the hair; this is innovative, astonishing salsa with a new, vibrant aesthetic. With an ever-evolving set list that includes songs by Arcade Fire, TV On The Radio, The Black Keys and many more, the WSO has taken the typical salsa form and infused it with a completely modern identity. The explosive arrangements have established the band as a groundbreaking force in the New York underground, and has led it to international acclaim for its completely new approach to the genre. “The Debut Album” has already been recognized by writers and DJs throughout the world as a piece which resets the boundaries of the art form and has the potential to bring the music to new audiences around the globe. Led by percussionist/arranger Gianni Mano (from the Latin-funk legends Radio Mundial) and fronted by Argentinian chanteuse Solange Prat, the WSO has found an audience among new and classic salsa lovers, quickly becoming one of the most popular bands in New York City. The WSO has been featured recently in Rolling Stone magazine (on the 2013 Latin Hot List), and on MTV Iggy, Telemundo, Univision, as well as on the nationally syndicated program LatiNation on Fox.
