Whether it’s a remote, pristine location or a well-known spot; it’s the surf that counts. It all started about 8 months ago at the headquarters of Protest in The Netherlands. During the evaluation of previous surf video projects with our team riders, we mutually decided that our next video project had to be about the best part of surfing: surfing.
The film crew will follow our riders on their ultimate road trip. You will feel the joy of freedom, the blissful moments of surfing, but also the struggles and inconveniences of a pro surfer’s life. By using the latest, state-ofthe-art technologies, we will add a unique dimension to all our episodes. More stories, less interviews. More freedom, less plans and first and foremost, surf. Protest designers, creators, movers and shakers have been very busy and can announce the launch of a brand new Xplore Series, a completely re-designed boardshorts range and an extended Mix & Match bikini collection.
Our Tropical Tribes theme screams sunshine, fun and relaxation, where a series of capsule collections create an exciting vibe full of variety and energy. Beautiful rainforests, body painting, exotic fruits, birds and wild animals provide inspiration for the perfect translation of a world that is bursting with graphical prints, vibrant colours and rich embellishment. We fully embrace nature and showcase the best of tropics in the super trendy Botanical, with romantic flowers, fruits and spices, and the tie-dye, blending and bleeding in Colour Fade gives an ethnic, artistic identity created and worn through the ages by tribal groups. In Monochrome it’s all about black and white body paint and hand-crafted patterns. Embellishment works its shimmery magic throughout the whole collection with beads, shells, metal buttons, braiding and embroidery. Tribal Warrior allows men to show their tougher side. New Animal uses fresh ideas for this ever present trend bringing in different prints, combining them together and one of the most important colours in African print comes through Indigo Denim; a trend that has translated very well in our swimwear, tunics and beach dresses.
The new Xplore Series is perfect for adventurous guys who like to be in charge of their own destiny, to beat the unbeatable – the true explorers. We’ve created everything you need to both explore and relax, whether it’s mountain biking, hiking or camping. A high-end shell jacket with zips under the arms is great for discovering your inner self and an ultra-lightweight soft shell with stretch is a fantastic all-rounder for spontaneous pursuits. Technical tops with thermal stretch material, full zipped tops with long sleeves – it’s all in this range. T-Shirts with mesh ventilation panels come in regular and slim fit. Really lightweight fabric jackets for in-between layers are easy to stow away for the unexpected. Functional shorts that look stylish, have zipped pockets to stop you loosing stuff while out there. A super comfortable sweat range gives you pants, shorts and hoodies. So, there are no excuses, get out there.
A complete re-design of the boardshorts range for men means much more choice in two different lengths. They’re more colourful, cleaner and even quieter in design, and technical features such as printed, anti-slip laces will really please the purists. Demonstrating the very best of the range is Protest PVRE, where clean-cut style and quality rule. We have a chic, surfable beachshort that looks like a walkshort but has all the technical aspects for riding as well as an excellent range of luxury, lightweight boardshorts in two lengths with a lace-front closure – all in a four-way stretch, quick-dry fabric. Regular beachshorts come in three lengths, including an extra trendy, shorter style, and have the half and full elastic waistbands that were such a success the last seasons. There’s huge variation in t-shirts, which fully embrace the capsule collections with monochrome panels, feather and tribal designs in slim and regular fit with normal, deep and wider necks - plus a new double layer V-neck.

For the women that love to keep their options open, you couldn’t wish for more choice with this season’s stunning Mix & Match bikini range. It’s bigger and better than ever with three stories; two beautiful flower designs in super summery colours and stunning dots and stripes in striking monochrome. Make your own combination of the twelve tops and nine bottoms including halter neck, triangle and bandeau style as well as a special two-way tie top.
Giving women even more flexibility and choice is the No Strings Attached range, just alter the look with a simple change of the two all-over printed straps. The Maxi dress with a new, stylish shape is tipped to be a winner, as are the maxi skirt, playsuit and all-over printed beach pants. Striking colours provide an incredibly feminine touch to the extended Protest Fit range. Bold pink, brilliant green and sunny orange highlights enhance the sporty basic tones of black, white and grey, and make a real statement. A new sporty range of bikinis are perfect for action, whether it’s wakeboarding, surfing or beach volleyball and we’ve added some running shorts as well as a four-way stretch short for extra movement during workouts. A new, aggressively priced sweat programme includes both short and long pants, as well as an allover printed version. Finish the whole thing off with a padded body warmer or a packable rain jacket and you’re all set for the gym or street.
And to pull it all together, we’ve got the best accessories range this season. There’s been a big focus on footwear and hats, with summer beanies, straw hats and new super-comfortable, moulded flipflops at entry level up to a luxury leather version for men. Ladies have new, richly embellished footwear. Some are themed to the Mix & Match bikini range and there’s a new glitter moulded flip-flop. Highlights include a cap to match the Protest Fit range - perfect for running - and beach-proof bags, including a stunning African handbag, decorated with all-over prints, hand-tied fringes and pom poms.
