Just What the Doctor Ordered Human beings are some of the most complex systems in the world, and responses to illness, disease, and impairments manifest in countless different ways. When it comes to making sure that your system stays up and running, healthcare professionals typically have their own deep well of knowledge—but the addition of artificial intelligence tools offers unprecedented support from millions of data points, global expert opinions, and the objective conclusions that only machine learning can provide. Working with Northeastern’s newly established Institute for Experiential AI—a $50 million investment forming a research hub of human and artificial intelligence collaboration, as described on page 44— College of Engineering researchers are putting artificial intelligence to work in the healthcare industry and beyond.
