The American Classroom Program is a unique opportunity to improve your language abilities while also taking credit-bearing courses at Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies. The program goes far beyond traditional ESL courses. It offers you a comprehensive academic and cultural experience that gives you an excellent start on your undergraduate or graduate degree—and prepares you for success both in and out of the classroom. THREE-PHASE PROGRAM LETS YOU START AT YOUR OWN LEVEL You may enter the program at whatever level your language test allows and then progress through each phase in sequence. Successful completion of Phase 3 allows you to waive the TOEFL language test requirement for admission to a degree program at the College of Professional Studies.

When you have successfully completed the American Classroom Program, you will be ready to pursue your undergraduate or graduate degree. Of course, we hope you will choose to continue your studies at Northeastern University. But if you return home or enroll in another college or university, all of the benefits of the program are still yours: improved language fluency, an introduction to life on an American campus, and course credits. And depending on your future degree program and level of study, those credits may be transferable.
