Nothing conjures up images of opulence and glamour as much as the famous Orient Express. When Northern Lights were approached by Wimberly Interiors to create fittings for this iconic project we were honoured to become part of this train’s great history. We were asked to work on the new ‘Grand suites’. These suites introduced a new level of luxury on the world’s most famous train, bringing together craftsmanship from many designers and manufacturers that have truly mastered their art.

The designers were tasked with capturing the spirit of Istanbul for one of the Grand Suites. The Arabesque architecture and intricate decorations both external and internal to the buildings of the city was captured by focussing on the details required. Elements such as hand-carved timbers, embossed leathers and the fine intricate fretwork on our wall light, helped the designer achieve the demands of a very challenging brief.
