HIGH NOTES
CANNABIS
Some 2,500 years ago, a dynamic bodywork therapy began appearing in the temples of Thailand. This therapeutic art was directly rooted in the Indian healing traditions of Ayurvedic medicine and yoga. Thai yoga massage uses a sequence of light, flowing exercise movements. The client’s body is moved, loosened and stretched in order to increase muscle flexibility and joint range of motion. This unique movement also helps restore the flow of energy throughout the body, accomplished by acupressure on the zen energy lines of the body that are aimed at harmonizing and energizing. The practitioner guides the client through a series of yoga postures while maneuvering palms and fingers along the body’s energy lines and pressure points.
No two bodies are the same, so every massage is unique, and tailored to each client. Thai yoga massage is performed on a mat on the floor; both client and practitioner are dressed in comfortable clothing, allowing ease of movement and flexibility. During a session, the practitioner’s every movement is coordinated with their breath to engage relaxation, which allows for energy flow to the client to deepen the experience. These experiences can vary within the body and mind, allowing for a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves circulation and flexibility, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically. Thai yoga massage is also a great stress and anxiety reducer.
Amy Seelhoff of Divine Life Force Massage in Manistee specializes in Thai yoga massage, and also can incorporate cannabis topicals into her massage treatments.
