THE NORTH SHORE GOLDEN GIRL OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST MAELLE RICKER SHARES SOME OF HER NORTH SHORE FAVES It was one of the most gripping moments of the 2010 Olympics: Hometown girl Maëlle Ricker grabbing gold in the ladies’ snowboard cross event at Cypress Mountain – one of the mountains she used to ski on as a kid. Now the Olympic fan fave is sharing some of her North Shore faves: Where did you have your biggest spill snowboarding on the North Shore? That would be in the Olympic SBX track on Cypress. I fell in one of my training runs the day before the guys raced. It was a nasty crash in the rollers about two thirds of the way down the course. If there was a crazy winter and snow shut down the North Shore, which street would you most like to board down? Hhmmmm. Top of the British Properties all the way to Park Royal. I guess that would be a more
than one street, but a nice long leg burner of a run. Best place to eat on the North Shore? Thai Food at Thai Pud Pong. What’s your favourite North Shore activity other than boarding? Mountain biking. Did you ever skip classes at Sentinel? If so where did you go? Yes I might have.... riding powder at Whistler.
