If you’re looking to perfect your serve, Bermuda has several tennis courts, including the government-run W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium on the outskirts of the City of Hamilton. There are eight courts, including five hard courts, three clay courts, and one practice wall. Pickleball courts are available at several locations, including Pompano Beach Club, which recently converted three courts to pickleball and offers non-guest access for $25/hour.

Bermuda has a vibrant sporting community, with most weekends filled with regular football, rugby, and cricket games across the island. One of Bermuda’s cultural highlights is the annual Cup Match in mid-summer and celebrates emancipation on the island. The two-day cricket game sees rival teams, St. George’s Cricket Club and Somerset Cricket Club, battle it out. Every year the game switches between Wellington Oval in St. George’s and Somerset Cricket Club, and the grounds are filled with spectators and festivities celebrating the long holiday weekend. The Cup Match will take place August 3–4, 2023, at St. George’s Cricket Club.

The record-breaking athlete lands another title.

Continuing to make waves on the world stage, Bermuda’s Dame Flora Duffy recently achieved a feat no female triathlete has accomplished after landing her record-breaking fourth WTS World Triathlon title during a thrilling competition in Abu Dhabi in November 2022.

“You are without question the greatest female triathlete the world has ever seen, and you are an inspiration to us all here in Bermuda,” said Premier David Burt about the 35-year-old Duffy, who was born and raised in Bermuda. Duffy made the island proud when she landed Bermuda’s firstever gold Olympic medal during the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo after winning the women’s triathlon.

Duffy’s many other accomplishments include being a two-time ITU World Triathlon Series Champion, a two-time ITU Cross Triathlon World Champion, a six-time winner of the XTERRA World Championships, and a Commonwealth gold medallist.

“Your dedication, fearlessness, and strength of character represent the true champion that you are,” said the Premier on behalf of the proud Bermudians.
