Why Business with Human Resource Management MSc at Northumbria? • This course develops broad business skills while also offering a specialist pathway in human resource management (HRM) that starts after the first semester, enhancing your employability. • Specialist modules cover principles and approaches in HRM as well as organisational behaviour and practice. You’ll gain a clear understanding of how HRM can add value to individual and organisational objectives. • The course culminates in either a master’s dissertation or, if you prefer, a consultancy project where you’ll tackle an issue faced by a real client. Teaching and Assessment Teaching • Courses are split into modules worth 20, 40 or 60 credits. • You study for 180 credits per year. • Lectures (large group teaching), seminars (small group discussions), workshops (interactive, practical sessions) and dissertations (large scale research project). You will have access to our e-Learning platform Blackboard, where you can re-watch all Panopto-recorded lectures and read workshop presentation slides at your own pace. Assessment • As this is a master’s course there is a major element of independent learning and self-motivated reflection. • We make sure that extensive feedback, from both tutors and peers, is built into the course. • Our assessment strategy is based on our understanding that everyone has different needs, strengths and enthusiasms. Assessment is based on course work and our methods will include essays, reports, group work, presentations, and the master’s dissertation or consultancy project.

Entry Requirements for 2021 There is no requirement to have studied business or HRM at undergraduate level. Applicants should normally have: •A minimum of a 2:2 honours degree in any subject, or substantial experience of working in a business organisation. •English language requirements: English language requirements - International applicants are required to have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with 5.5 in each component (or approved equivalent*).
