YOUR EXPERIENCE
What do our students think? The Design MRes at Northumbria has been a fascinating introduction to the world of research. During the first year we have explored the building blocks of research thinking and project design, allowing me to really get to grips with outlining my own unique research focus.
LUCY MARLOR, DESIGN MRES CURRENT STUDENT
A particular highlight has been the organisation of our own multidisciplinary conference. In addition, the task of writing and presenting a research paper at the conference has been a great experience and has given me the confidence to drive my research forward to seek further outlets such as external symposiums and journals. The course is already opening up opportunities to explore after graduation, which is exciting!
What do our students think? As a young designer and researcher specialising in sustainable knitwear practices, participating in the Design MRes course at Northumbria University has helped me to develop my academic and professional research skills. CHARLOTTE KELLY, DESIGN MRES This course allows students to focus on their individual CURRENT STUDENT specialisms whilst developing their creative, reflective and critical thinking abilities. The modules within this course have been organised excellently to benefit the progression of research skills for a range of disciplines.
The module tutors and individual supervisors provide a great deal of support throughout the duration of this course. As a practice-based designer, I have been able to tailor the outcome of my research to accommodate my design specialism, whilst being introduced to new methodologies and theories that have massively improved my academic research skills.
