Explore the City and the Region Be inspired at the internationally renowned BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, one of Northumbria’s many cultural partners in the North East, or take in a concert at the Sage Gateshead on the banks of the River Tyne.
Welcome to Newcastle, a famously friendly, vibrant, and exciting city; regularly voted one of the best cities in the UK for students. Also voted the top place in the world for travellers to visit in 2018 by Rough Guides. You’ll find outstanding culture, fantastic shopping, world-famous heritage, and stunning coastlines and countryside right here on your doorstep. 22
Visit the Tyneside Cinema – a unique, independent cinema where Northumbria students and staff enjoy screenings, discussions and events. It’s a great place for a drink and a bite to eat, if you don’t have time for a screening. Or see a show at the Theatre Royal or Live Theatre, internationally recognised as a great place for new writing talent. At Live Theatre, Northumbria students can work with
directors, production and technical staff to develop new creative work and education programmes. If you are staying overnight and have more time to explore, visit newcastlegateshead.com for places to stay and more things to see while you are here.
