TreeTrip: mobile app for interactive nature trips
Patryk Wieczorek, Computer Science, Department of Computer and Information Sciences
Project aims
●To create an app that automatically creates an interactive trip around a national park based on available data
●To research and use best tools to create such an app that also allows for it to be run on different devices and allows it to be run without internet connection
●Research suggested previous solutions require initial creation of a trip and physical elements to be set up (like QR codes and RFID tags)
Current functions
●The app tasks users with finding examples of trees and taking a photo of them
●The app creates a trip based on forestry data to eliminate the need for creation of a trip
●It uses image recognition model to validate the photos taken by the user without the need for physical elements
Suggestions for the future development
●The app could be adapted to other settings, like national trust sites and museums.
●New functions could be added, like a map of the site of the trip.
