Charity of the year! Last year we we’re extremely pleased to announce that Dobbies, Ponteland, chose to support us as their charity of the year for 2016. We are delighted to say that they have chosen to support us again in 2017 as their charity of the year. We are extremely thankful to the colleagues who selected us. In 2016 we raised over £10,000 thanks to the generosity of the customers and were made to feel very welcome by the employees. Well done to all of our volunteers who have engaged with the staff and customers of the store. Without your involvement this wouldn’t have been possible. Let’s keep up the good work over the next year. Thomas, (the tank engine), is also becoming a much loved part of our fundraising team while we’re in the store. He’s definitely a firm favorite, with his catchy tune, brightening the day of our volunteer Sean Jamieson.

We saw the start of the year with our first visits to Tesco Durham Langley Moor and Tesco Durham Extra. Although the store at Langley Moor is small we still raised a fantastic £409.38 over our two day collection. We made up for not being able to get a bike in that store by having two on our first day and three on our second day at the Durham Extra store. It’s not often we manage to get three bikes in a supermarket so a big thank you to the staff at the store for letting us bring them in. Over the two days at Durham Extra we raised an incredible £1059.07.
We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone that donated and to the staff for their friendly welcome. Every little really does help!

360 Challenge Registrations are now open for the second 360 Motorbike challenge. With places limited and due to the popularity of last year’s event we recommend you don’t delay entering. You’re invited to participate in the 360 Motorbike Challenge on 22nd April.2017 in support of Northumbria Blood Bikes. A ride not to be missed! The route takes you to the furthest points of the Northumbria Blood Bikes operational area, and will showcase some of the best areas Northumberland, Durham, and Upper Teesdale have to offer - wild spectacular Landscapes, Moor and Coast, something for everyone! The event starts and finishes either at The Road House Grill Tyneside Auto Parc or from Durham Tees Flight Training, Durham Tees Valley Airport from 8.00am onwards. Once signed in you will be given an event card to complete on the route. A map will be available showing suggested roads to ride for spectacular views, but there are also four locations which participants must visit to complete their event card, which needs to be shown at the finish for you/your passenger to receive your commemorative badge. The entry fee for the event is £15.00 per rider or £20.00 if you also carry a passenger. All participants who successfully complete the challenge will receive a badge, and any individual who is successful in raising £360 or more will receive a special award badge in recognition of their efforts. There is also a special ELITE badge for the individual who raises the highest amount of sponsorship for the event. Note: All participants who take part do so at their own risk; The ride is held on public highways and all rules and regulations of the road must be strictly adhered to at all times. The organisers would like to stress that the ride is not a race; it is a fund raising treasure hunt ride to help with the running of the Northumbria Blood Bikes.
