There are lots of superb campsites to stay on throughout North Wales. Read on if you are looking for the perfect spot to pitch your tent up this summer…

TYDDYN ISAF CARAVAN PARK

A multi-award winning site on Anglesey located near a beautiful bay on the islands north west coast and close to Dulas. The site is family owned with spaces for about 80 units and takes tents, caravans and campervans plus has static caravans. There are plenty of electric hook-ups for those who need them and the site is well landscaped and laid out. There are lovely clean toilet and shower blocks, a laundry, a shop, a restaurant and nice children’s play areas and fields. The views over the sea and Lligwy Bay are stunning and best from the higher pitches. The adjoining beaches and bays are great for beach sports and sunbathing. www.tyddynisaf.co.uk

MANORAFON FARM TOURING AND CAMPING SITE

Manorafon Farm Touring and Camping Site is located in Abergele and is very handy for the beaches and bays of Colwyn Bay and Rhos-on- Sea with Rhyl not being too far away either. The site is an oasis of peace and tranquillity set amidst trees in rolling countryside. Camping areas are grass and often separated by open fencing with a good track running around the whole camping field. Caravans have hard standing pitches. There are electric hook-ups for those who need them. The site has around 34 pitches overall and is set on the Gwrych Castle Estate. The toilets and showers are clean and tidy and there is a small laundry available too. www.manorafon.co.uk

NANT MILL FAMILY TOURING CARAVAN AND TENTING PARK

Silver Nant Mill Family Touring Caravan and Tenting Park is a friendlyfamily-run site near Prestatyn. The site is quite large with several fields taking around 150 units. The fields are slightly sloping and so the best spot for tents is at the bottom. Booking is advised here most of the time as the site is very popular and regulars return year after year. The pitches are predominately grass with electric hook-ups which are mostly used for the caravans but can be booked for camping too as long as you let the site know you need one. The toilet block is located centrally near the top of the field, and the toilets are key coded and neat and clean. www.nantmilltouring.co.uk

FRON FARM CARAVAN AND CAMPING PARK

Fron Farm Caravan and Camping Park is set on working farm high up in the Clwydian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The site has strict rules on noise and behaviour and is well run and very clean and is very popular with families who have children. There is a play area and pitches for about 80 units. There are several camping and caravan fields and a road/track network connects them all. There are electric hook-ups and two shower and toilet blocks which are kept clean and tidy. The farm sells some basic provisions from a small shop. A separate road leads off the site through a forest back to the main Mold Road to avoid congestion. www.fronfarmcaravanpark.co.uk

FFERM CILCENNUS CAMPING SITE

Fferm Cilcennus Camping site is to be found betweenLLanrwst and Betws-y-Coed and is a hidden gem set on a working farm and located in a clearing amongst trees. The site takes caravans, campervans and tents. The field is sloping in places and with the flattest pitches for camping being at the bottom. Pitches are grass with plenty of electric hook-ups available for those who need them. A track runs around the site. The toilet and shower block are set near the farmhouse and are spotlessly clean and include a campers kitchen, a disabled toilet and shower and a pool table room. Fferm Cilcennus is ideally placed for the Conwy Valley area of Snowdonia. www.cilcennusfarm.co.uk

LLYN GWYNANT CAMPSITE

A true adventure lover’s site on the shores of LlynGwynant and the banks of The Afon Glaslyn, Llyn Gwynant Campsite is also set below the slopes of The Snowdon Massif and is surrounded by towering mountains. There is a shop at reception and the site has a good toilet and shower block plus a laundry. The camping fields are spacious and flat but cars have mostly to be left in parking areas and gear carried to your pitch. Larger tents have specific areas allocated to them and if you want an electric hook-up it must be booked in advance. This is site best suited for tents but small caravans and campervans can be accommodated too. www.gwynant.com

TYN-YR-ONNEN FARM CAMPSITE

Tyn Yr Onnen Farm Campsite is at Waunfawr between Caernarfon and Beddgelert and is spectacularlylocated on a working farm on a hillside under Moel Ellio. There are two main fields separated by a fence/ hedge with plenty of electric hook-ups and spectacular views. Families love it here as there is a large TV and games room plus a children’s play area and lots of animals. There are two shower and toilet blocks which are clean and tidy. There is also a launderette and washing up room. The site has its own small shop selling basics and there are also a collection of pods to hire at the top of the fields. www.tyn-yr-onnen.co.uk

TYN CORNEL CAMPING SITE

Tyn Cornel Camping Site near Bala is a great base forSouthern Snowdonia and, as it is on The River Tyweryn next to The National White Water Centre (where you can go white water rafting and kayaking), it is a real adventure lover’s location. It is also handily placed for The Arenigs and The Arran mountain ranges. The site has two fields – one for tents and a second narrower field for caravans and tents who want electric hook-ups. The toilet and shower block is centrally located and very clean and the site has belle tents and pods to hire too. www.tyncornelcamping.co.uk

DOLGAMEDD CAMPING AND CARAVAN PARK

Dolgamedd Camping and Caravan Park near Dolgellau is hidden away in a wooded valley next to a pretty river. The site takes campervans, caravans and tents and there are plenty of electric hook-ups for caravans and campervans – but only eight for tents. There is a clean modern toilet and shower block a laundry. The site is set over a series of fields with tents going on the lower field next to the river where they are allowed to have open fires. Above this there is a caravan field for tourers and campervans while, at the other side of the site, is The Hayfield – which is another location for tourers and campervans. www.dolgamedd.co.uk

NANTCOL WATERFALLSCAMPSITE

Nantcol Waterfalls Campsite near Llanbedr is a remote location with tight approach lanes that will not suit caravanners or campervan owners with large units but is ideal for campers in cars. Nantcol offers a real wilderness experience and is set in quiet valley with a waterfall and a river which has formed a natural swimming pool for campers to use. The site allows open fires in set places but you have to buy your logs from reception. Pitches are mostly grass and electric hookups are available for those who require them. There is a small shop selling basics, wifi is available, and the clean toilet block is modern and well equipped. www.nantcolwaterfalls.co.uk
