Crucial to prepare for the future, say legal experts
A lot of businesses are run as a partnership – and a North Wales-based legal specialist says it is “crucial” for partners to have plans in place for the future. Jennifer Edwards (pictured), a corporate and commercial lawyer at Lanyon Bowdler in Conwy, said succession planning
was a vital consideration, whether you are setting up a new partnership or already in partnership but without documenting your intentions. “If you are operating as a partnership, firstly check whether you have a written
partnership agreement in place,” she explained. “It is important to have a written agreement rather than relying on verbal arrangements or past practice to determine how the business is run. Many people don’t realise that in the absence of a written agreement providing otherwise, the partnership will dissolve on the death of any partner. The partnership agreement should also be used to clearly set out what should happen to an individual’s share of the partnership on death – is it to be left to another partner as a gift, or will the other partners have an option to purchase the deceased partners’ share? This should be considered alongside your Will and the two documents should reflect
the same wishes.”
Rydal Penrhos hosts cricket coaching event
Rydal Penrhos’ incredible sporting facilities have regularly hosted Welsh youth cricket internationals in recent years, and the school was thrilled to host a special coaching event on Saturday 13th November in partnership with Cricket Wales and Glamorgan County Cricket Club. The Coaching CPD Day ran from 10.00am – 5.00pm and covered
a number of topics from the disciplines of batting, bowling, fielding
and wicket-keeping to athletic development and talent identification.
Among those attending the session was Matt Maynard MBE, a former England international and Glamorgan star who has since gone on to become a successful coach. He was joined at the event by Rich Almond (Head of Talent Development at Glamorgan Cricket Club), Aimee Rees and Matt Thompson, who is Head of Talent Pathway at Cricket Wales. The aim of the days were to provide coaches up and down the country with a refresher of technical, tactical and practical coaching content that can be applied throughout the Welsh cricketing pathway, from club level, to regional cricket and County Age Group cricket.
New development for Colwyn Bay
A rapidly-growing North Wales builder has started work on a £25 million scheme to build over 100 new homes in Colwyn
Bay. Bamber Homes is a new division of the Mochdre-based Brenig Group and has been formed to develop the company’s private housebuilding projects. Their first
venture is on a 13-acre site on Queens Drive, Colwyn Bay, where they will build a mixture of two- to five-bedroom houses
and apartments on the former John Braddock and Mary Bamber convalescent centre site. The plans include 14 executive-style apartments in the John Braddock building, originally built as a luxurious mansion-style home for Lord
