A wild adventure
Random acts of wildness!
We are so fortunate in North Wales to have wonderful nature and wildlife on our doorstep, but do we always take the time to really notice it?
Coming soon, the UK’s biggest annual nature challenge 30 Days Wild, encourages people to connect with nature every day during the month of June and is the perfect opportunity to take time, each day, to appreciate just how lucky we are!
People of all ages will take to the outdoors to enjoy spotting wildlife, eating al-fresco, planting wildflower seeds and
listening to birdsong, to name just a few of the many ‘random acts of wildness’, simple daily actions to help or connect with nature. You could be having breakfast with the birds on Monday, feeling the grass between your toes on Tuesday and watching wildlife webcams on Wednesday!
The challenge in our part of the country is led by North Wales Wildlife Trust, the charity that works to protect all forms of wildlife, and wildlife habitats, across the region.
“We love the 30 Days Wild challenge!” said Frances Cattanach,
Chief Executive of North Wales Wildlife Trust. “Around two million people have taken part nationwide so far and the number continues to grow every year. It’s so wonderful to see all the creative ways that people are inspired to go wild in June!”
Good for nature, good for you!
The wellbeing benefits of nature and the outdoors have been
well-proven, even more so since the recent COVID crisis when people discovered their local green spaces, woods, lakes and beaches anew. In a 2021 survey carried out by The Wildlife Trusts, 78% of people said that the pandemic had made them value nature more, 98% said they would like to make their garden more wildlife-friendly and many more people said they wanted to take more actions for wildlife – all really good news for our precious natural world!

A further study found that people who took part in the 30 Days Wild challenge in previous years reported that they felt happier and healthier for taking part, with positive effects lasting for at least two months afterwards – and often much longer.
So why not sign up for the 30 Days Wild challenge?
Everyone who signs up will receive a free pack to provide lots of inspiration along the way, and there are specially designed packs for schools, care homes and businesses too! n
