Making a splash

There’s no better time to get out in the water than when the sun in shining… We uncover some of the best places to practise your favourite watersport this summer.

Adventure Parc Snowdonia Criccieth Multigolf

Picture this. A perfect lozenge-shaped lagoon roughly the size of six football pitches (well, everything has to be measured in football pitches) set in the lush green Conwy Valley at the foothills of the mountains of Snowdonia. Adventure Parc Snowdonia is a world-class destination to explore, take on adventure or simply admire and enjoy this magnificent part

of the world. Surrounding the surf lagoon which sits central to the parc, there is a range of award-winning adventures, experiences, and modern accommodation.

There are few places on the planet where you are guaranteed perfect consistent surf, but as good fortune would have it one of them is in North Wales. Surf Snowdonia at Adventure Parc Snowdonia is a world-first inland surf lagoon and the only

guaranteed surf break in the UK. Waves roll at 90-second intervals, with dedicated zones for beginner, intermediate and advanced surfers, the perfect place to get on board, whatever your age or ability. Providing everything you need from safety, guided tuition, equipment led by a talented and friendly team of passionate people. You can surf with or without instruction, and slots are bookable by 60 or 90 minutes. Prices start from £35 for an adult, and £25 for a child.

If however you’d rather get out in the sea, then look no further than Criccieth Multigolf – and don’t be confused by its name! Situated on the clifftops of the Criccieth coastline, with breathtaking views across to Harlech and beyond, Criccieth Multigolf offers a range of water activities, including paddle boarding and kayaking, and is suitable for all ages. It offers single-seater and family kayaks, as well as various sized paddle boards. Beginners are welcome, with a full safety

briefing provided before going out on the water. Criccieth is

rapidly becoming one of North Wales’ paddle boarding hotspots, so try it for yourself, paddle beneath Criccieth’s famous castle and see if you can spot a dolphin!

Further up the coast and MÔR is a new pop-up shop based in Porth Eirias, Colwyn Bay. It has joined the established Bryn Williams bistro and Evolution Bikes there with parking & facilities for customers and easy beach access to get straight onto the water.

This dedicated stand up paddle board shop plans to make “the most popular water sports movement in the world” more accessible to everyone living in and visiting the area. MÔR sells a range of iSUPs from top brands including Shark, JOBE, Anomy, Sandbanks Style & Aqua Marina.

Paddle board essentials and spares are also available, including carbon & fibreglass paddles, fins, electric pumps, leashes and

buoyancy aids. Stock up on the essentials for a day on the sea with items from wetsuits and sunscreen to changing robes and towels.

So there’s no excuse not to give a watersport a try this summer as North Wales is really making waves! n
