Parents’ Guide
Orange City is among the safest communities anywhere, but we still take safety seriously. The college employs a campus security director, and an Emergency Response Team meets regularly. Our NWC Alert notification system enables college officials to send students security alerts by text, email and voice-mail within minutes.

Students at Christian colleges report exploring what they believe more than at any other time of their lives—enabling their childhood faith to develop into something that will ground them as adults. At Northwestern, your student’s search will be informed by classes taught from a Christian worldview and opportunities to put faith into practice through missions. Our commitment to service is one reason Northwestern is consistently named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.

Academic strength
Career success
Northwestern’s personalized education will lead to big opportunities for your child. Students get individual attention in small classes taught by professors with Ph.D. degrees rather than by graduate students. They also have more opportunity than students at large universities for involvement in sports, music and theatre.
Lots of colleges say they have excellent academics. We have excellent academics plus a commitment to a distinctively Christian worldview that produces graduates who are more than just smart. They’re also compassionate. Courageous. Faithful. As a parent, don’t you want your kids to have an education like that? Among Northwestern’s more than 80 academic programs—all offered from a Christian perspective—are popular ones like biology, business and education; growing ones like nursing, public relations and social work; and unique ones like actuarial science, strength and conditioning, and Spanish translation and interpretation.
