Internship Search: Green Insider Advice
Identify what “green” means to you and how your skills, values, and experiences can translate into internship opportunities.
Seek opportunities in both green industry companies (focus on green product development and distribution) and green initiative companies (efforts to uphold/enhance green practices)
Volunteering with an organization of interest can often lead to a substantial internship role.
Hiring Cycle As a new and quickly evolving industry, the green industry does not have a clearly defined hiring cycle. In the corporate environment, it is advised that you actively seek and apply to opportunities during the winter quarter. Engineering roles may even have earlier deadlines. In a non-profit environment, employers are more likely to use just-in-time hiring practices. As a result, you will see opportunities arise during the winter and spring quarters.
