Internship Search: Performing Arts Insider Advice
Be proactive in your search by using employer sourcing, which means identify the organizations you are interested in and pursue/create opportunities with them.
Do your research! It is important that you are familiar with the organization, their niche, and upcoming performances or initiatives.
Hiring Cycle If the internship role you seek is performance based, you should begin your search early to identify potential opportunities. This will provide you with time to prepare for auditions. If the internship role you seek is business-focused, your hiring cycle will be impacted by the size of the organization and the competitiveness of the internship program. A good rule of thumb is: the larger or more competitive an organization, the earlier the application deadline.
Market Your Skills
The position you are applying for should determine the focus of your resume. Prioritize which experiences to include and the meaning they have for the employer.
Employers want to see and know what you can do for them more than what you know.
