REGISTRATION AND MEMBERSHIP Membership to Community Recreation & Wellness is $20.00 per year. Membership allows you access to programs, free mail outs, exclusive lectures and other special one-time events. To get your membership or to renew, please stop by the Community Recreation & Wellness office, visit us online or email us.

Three Ways to Register 1. Call our office at 902-454-3351. If we aren’t available when you call, just leave us a message telling us your name, your contact information and the program you’re interested in. 2. Stop by either or Halifax or Bedford office during business hours. For up to date times that we are available please call us. 3. Visit us online at nwood.ns.ca/calendar to find the program you wish to register for and click register. Programs, events, education, workshops, etc. are for Community Recreation & Wellness members only, unless otherwise specified. Advance registration is required unless otherwise specified. Drop-in programs do not require a commitment and are on a pay-as-you go basis. However, if you plan to attend a dropin program, please register in advance using one of the methods listed.

BEDFORD Chair Yoga

Laughter Yoga

An accessible yoga class that focuses on seated postures and modified poses that everyone can enjoy! The class will focus on functional poses that help mobility of the spine and joints, stretch and strengthen our muscles and deep breathing exercises that are linked with movement.

A unique social activity combining voluntary laughter, youthful playfulness, and breathing exercises. This class is practiced in a chair and is accessible to everyone. Laughter Yoga can increase your mood, strengthen your immune system and decrease stress. Laugh your way to better health!

Walking Club Being active is a key to good health and walking is one of the easiest, wallet friendly ways to get moving. Join local walking enthusiasts for a 45-minute to 1-hour, low impact walk throughout the surrounding community’s trails.

Are you confused by the many different things you hear about fat, sugar and salt? You’re not alone! Come and learn the real science on these hot nutrition topics.

Get inspired to start cooking healthy meals for one or two at home! You will get quick, easy recipes and resources for one or two people. There will be no cooking in this program.

HALIFAX Kripalu Chair Yoga Join instructors Anna Hirtle and Brian Taylor for a weekly session of breathing exercises, gentle stretches, strengthening postures, and finally, a few moments of relaxation. HALIFAX Narcotics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous is a non-profit fellowship of men and women for whom drugs have become a major problem. We are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. The only requirement for membership is the desire to stop using drugs. A New Way to Live meets:

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking. AA meeting are held monthly.

This game welcomes those of all playing abilities and partners are not required. Players are matched on a first come first served basis and although partners are never guaranteed, we try to get everyone in the game.

SPECIAL EVENTS Bus Trip: A Trip Down Memory Lane Step into the 1940s on this trip to Memory Lane Heritage Village in Lake Charlotte. The village features seventeen authentically restored buildings depicting all aspects of social and economic life in rural Nova Scotia.
