REGISTRATION AND MEMBERSHIP Membership to Community Recreation & Wellness is $20.00 per year. Membership allows you access to programs, free mail outs, exclusive lectures and other special one-time events. To get your membership or to renew, please stop by one of the Community Recreation & Wellness office, visit us online or email us.

Stop by either or Halifax or Bedford office during business hours. For up to date times that we are available please call us. Programs, events, education, workshops, etc. are for Community Recreation & Wellness members only, unless otherwise specified. Advance registration is required unless otherwise specified. Drop-in programs do not require a commitment and are on a pay-as-you go basis. However, please register in advance using one of the methods listed.

BEDFORD Chair Yoga Chair yoga is an accessible yoga class that focuses on seated postures and modified poses that everyone can enjoy! A focus on functional poses that help mobility and stretch and strengthen our muscles. The deep breathing exercises are linked with movement. A great program for overall physical health. Instructor:

Laughter Yoga A unique social activity combining voluntary laughter, youthful playfulness, and breathing exercises. This class is practiced in a chair and is accessible to everyone. BEDFORD Device Assistance Clinics Halifax Public Libraries joins us to offer free device assistance clinics designed to help you learn the basics. Bring your favorite device and learn its functions – computer, iPhone, iPad etc. Appointments are 1 hour with subject to change based on need. Space is limited. Contact us to reserve your session. Fit, Fun, Fantastic This weekly fitness class offers exercise for the active older adult. HALIFAX Alcoholics Anonymous Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking. AA meetings are held monthly and are free. When

Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous is a non-profit fellowship of men and women for whom drugs have become a major problem. We are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. The only requirement for membership is the desire to stop using drugs. Halifax Positive Aging Series Join Positive Aging Coach, Debbie Stewart for any one or all of the following sessions. All sessions will be held in the Manor Meeting Space. Registration is required and payment is due 24 hours prior to the session. If you are a member this series is free, not a member, no problem, the fee is 5.00.

Change Your Thinking – Change Your Life Tuesday November 12, 1:00 to 3:00 pm In this session we discover the role that “mindset” plays in helping us to become more resilient as we age. We will look at ways to become more “deliberate thinkers”. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Fostering Positive Mental Energy Tuesday November 19, 1:00 to 3:00 pm In this session we increase awareness of our “mental energy” and how our energy can impact our happiness and fulfillment as we go forward on the aging journey. You will be given tips and tools on how to bring more positive energy into your life

Self Care and Mindfulness Tuesday November 26, 1:00 to 3:00 pm In this session we look at self- care as a “discipline” rather than a luxury. We will explore mindfulness as one way to foster self- care. There will be a chance for self- reflection and setting goals to contribute to our personal positive aging journey.

Halifax Encores Theatre Workshops Did you ever dream of being a star of the stage, screen or radio or even thought of giving acting a try? Whether you are a seasoned pro, coming out of retirement or simply a theatre enthusiast, then these workshops lead by Patrick Maubert are for you! Sign up for one or all! All workshops will be in the Shirley Burnstein Hall. For each workshop the fee is $15 for members, $25 non members. Registration is required and is due one week prior to the workshop date.
