LGraduation Requirements
Students must accumulate nineteen credits in the Upper School to graduate. Additionally, each department has its own graduation requirements. This publication carries complete course descriptions for all department offerings. Graduation requirements are as follows:
In addition to the academic curriculum requirements, seniors must also complete a Senior Speech and participate in a Senior Spring Project.
• Senior Spring Project: After the conclusion of senior exams in May, students begin a 40-hour spring project that can focus on community engagement, an internship experience, or an independent project. Seniors work with the Director of Character and Leadership Development to form a plan that meets the requirements to successfully complete the project.
• Senior Speech: Seniors are required to present a speech to the North Yarmouth Academy community as a way to demonstrate public speaking skills. The presentation must meet the guidelines of the speech advisors. While students have a choice in the topic, their speech must be appropriate for the audience, including family, faculty, staff, and students.
