Founding member of internationally acclaimed Icelandic band múm and esteemed session player to the likes of Jónsi (Sigur Rós), Ólöf Arnalds and the Dessner brothers (The National), classically trained cellist Gyda brings her new and unique visions of existing classical pieces, from the great master Sergei Prokofiev through to 20th century experimental music theorist Harry Partch. Giving herself creative free-reign, Gyda gives each piece a reimagined identity and sensibility in her album Epicycle. Performing as trio with Shazad Ismaily and Julian Sartorius.

Everyone is shouting and no one is listening. A panel of speakers representing our wide community and chaired by Katy Jon Went will lead discussions on the subject of gender. This is not a debate with winners and losers but the chance for proper conversations to take place in a safe and respectful environment. There will be plenty of opportunity for everyone to join in and share thoughts and ideas with a view to enabling a better understanding of all points of view. Presented by NAC and LJ Hope Productions. Supported by National Centre for Writing.

The Neutrinos with Sal Pittman + Graceland

2019 marks twenty years since maverick Norwich art-rock pioneers The Neutrinos played their first gig. Every performance is a one-off event, blurring the boundaries between music and live art and between performer and audience. Artist Sal Pittman, collaborator and long-term inspiration, will be lighting the show. Very special guests Graceland. Don’t expect it to be normal.

Drawing on techno, electronica, neo-classical and post-rock influences, Sunda Arc (Mammal Hands) compose and perform using both electronic and acoustic instruments, including analogue synthesisers, home-made software patches, piano, saxophones and bass clarinet – all finessed and channelled through their own unique creative strategies.

A Feast of True Stories: The Start of Something Good

Food and stories are natural companions and have been shared since the building of the first campfire; this new event brought to you by True Stories Live and the Bicycle Shop pays homage to that tradition. Storytellers will tell stories inspired by the theme and memorable food related to it. The audience will share the experience of both the story and the food. This evening will be compered by Molly Naylor and will take place over three courses with three accompanying stories, told by people like you.
