Liam Ashley Clark: Ultraviolet Youthquake
Ultraviolet, the Pantone Colour of the Year 2018, has often been associated with images of ‘the future’, invention, exploration, ideas of what is yet to come. Youthquake, named Word of the Year 2017 by Oxford Dictionaries, is defined as a ‘significant cultural, political, or social change arising from the actions or influence of young people’. This exhibition sees a collection of new paintings by Liam Ashley Clark that have been influenced by political and social events over the past few years, as well as a handful of more surreal works.

One man’s journey around Britain with a recording no-one knew existed. Armed with the music, a camera, a notepad and a pair of headphones, Michael Burdett travelled the length and breadth of the UK to find 200 people prepared to stop, listen and talk. Humorous and poignant, Strange Face celebrates life, coincidences and the legacy of singer-songwriter Nick Drake.

Balloon
Balloon is a lively, fast-moving, new event created by NAC, LJ Hope Productions (True Stories Live) and Simon Floyd (The Common Lot). Six Players and a Pilot are floating above Norwich in a punctured hot air balloon, which is sinking fast. By sheer wit, eloquence and mastery of this month’s topic of Democracy, they have to persuade the Mob – that’s you – why they should not be ejected to re-gain height and save the remaining Players. Four rounds of debate, challenge and voting will determine the winner. Everyone will need to be on the alert for interventions by ‘Lucyfer’ the ever capricious final arbiter.
