“A little gem... this is storytelling at its best, generous and warm hearted, lyrical yet real” Laura Wells, The Good Review Operation Crucible tells the story of four steel workers caught in the chaos on the evening of the Sheffield blitz. In the Marples Hotel in Fitzalan Square, 80 people, rushing and panicking, took shelter in the cellars; 10 compartments, each big enough to house only a few people at a time. At 11.44pm a 500kg bomb reduced the seven storey building to rubble. In the midst of destruction, one compartment withstood the blast. Within it, trapped, were four Sheffield men. This is their story. 8pm : £8.00 : £6.00 concessions : seated
