Norwich Coaching Staff Sarah Davies
Amanda Cuiffo
Assistant Coach
Head Coach Amanda Cuiffo enters her sixth year as head coach of the Norwich University women's volleyball team in 2010, having overseen its inception as a varsity sport in 2006. Cuiffo has guided the Cadets to a winning record every season with the exception of the squad’s inaugural campaign. Cuiffo also serves as the Associate Director of Athletics and as the senior woman administrator at the university. Prior to arriving at Norwich, Cuiffo served as the head women's tennis coach at Brandeis University and the assistant volleyball coach at Bentley College. Cuiffo also assisted the volleyball team at Smith College as well as the tennis and squash teams at Amherst College, while completing her graduate work at Smith. Cuiffo graduated magna cum laude from Colby College in 2002. While at Colby, Cuiffo captained the volleyball team during both her junior and senior years and was a four-time team MVP. She was named AllNew England “Rookie of the Year” in 1998, and was twice selected to the All-NESCAC second team. Cuiffo also competed for two years on Colby’s tennis team, captaining the squad during her senior year. Cuiffo went on to graduate magna cum laude from Smith College, earning a M.S. in Exercise and Sport Studies. In her role as Associate Director of Athletics, Cuiffo oversees the following sport programs: women’s soccer, women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, women’s rugby, softball and women’s basketball. Cuiffo is also the assistant director of compliance, a role in which she monitors contest scheduling, oversees event management and is responsible for aspects of student-athlete affairs to include supervision of Norwich’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and coordination of Norwich’s CHAMPS/Life Skills Program.
2010 marks Sarah Davies’ first year as a member of the Norwich University volleyball coaching staff. Davies will assist head coach Amanda Cuiffo in a variety of areas, including game preparation and player skill development. Davies played college volleyball for two seasons at Johns Hopkins University, where she was a defensive specialist. She graduated from Johns Hopkins in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, before attending the Georgetown University School of Medicine. She recently completed her residency at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt. Davies will join the staff on a part-time basis while fulfilling her full-time responsibilities as one of the new physicians at Green Mountain Family Practice in Northfield.
