After a long stint in the fashion industry I was disillusioned with the high turnover of fashion and the endless need to buy new - it didn’t reflect the life I was living. Maven Patterns was founded in 2015 with the principle of making sewing patterns that could be used to create garments that would be loved to give years of wear. Not the stuff of teenagers, but of the woman who knows what she likes and wants to wear it, to make it, love it and cherish it. And make it again. I like to think of them as quiet clothes. Clothes that will become part of daily life. Clothes that reflect their maker and her choices. There’s such a joy in the process of creating and a value and integrity to the final garment. We draft each pattern by hand, still at Granny’s old kitchen table, to create a balanced and considered garment – so you will want to re-use and re-create them again and again. That is, after all, the point.
