One day, our teacher said that we were going on a SCHOOL TRIP to the BEACH.

We all CHEERED because we couldn’t wait to go

PADDLING

and have a

BEACH PICNIC

and make SANDCASTLES.

And Joel Jack said that he was going to bring his

GIANT INFLATABLE PINEAPPLE.

But that’s when Miss Riley said that we weren’t going paddling OR building sandcastles. And also that the giant inflatable pineapple didn’t sound very safe.

We all STARED at each other. Because we didn’t know what else you could do at the beach if you weren’t doing any of those things! Miss Riley handed us all BRIGHT BLUE VESTS and said that we were taking part in a

BEACH CLEAN UP PROJECT.

We all GASPED and looked at each other because cleaning up the beach sounded BORING.

But then Miss Riley said that our class had been chosen by the council and that if we did a really good job, our school would get a BIG PRIZE.

Everyone wanted to help clean up the beach when Miss Riley said that because we all LOVE prizes (especially BIG ONES!).

When we got to the beach, we all put on our BLUE VESTS and Miss Riley gave us all STICKS with GRABBER BITS at the end so we could pick up the rubbish without touching it.

Everyone LOVED using the GRABBER STICKS! We were only supposed to use them to pick up rubbish but then Joel Jack got a bit CARRIED AWAY and started grabbing people’s FEET and ARMS with his stick. And that’s when Miss Riley took Joel’s grabber away and said that he was going to be in charge of the BIN BAG instead.

And that’s when I saw the CAT.

It was black and white and it was CARRYING a bag of CRISPS in its MOUTH!

I GASPED because I’d never seen a cat at the beach before (and I’d DEFINITELY never seen one carrying a bag of crisps!).

The cat turned and STARED at me and that’s when I noticed it only had ONE EYE.
