College & Career
Preparation
A Notre Dame education prepares today's young women for college degrees in emerging fields and encourages them to develop personal skills for a whole and healthy life. Embracing Saint Julie's tenet to 'teach young women what they need to know for life,' Notre Dame guides students as they discern their individual path to success in a changing and increasingly challenging world. Nationally, women represent 34% of practicing physicians, 19% of the U.S. Congress, 14% of executive officers and only 4% of S&P 500 company CEOs, even though they earn 60% of college degrees awarded each year. We are committed to increasing women’s leadership and engagement in careers and fields where they have been underrepresented and educating young women who will change those statistics. By leveraging the extensive life and career knowledge of our community partners, parents and alumnae, we provide unparalleled opportunities for our students to develop communication, decisionmaking, self-motivation and teamwork skills, all critical for 21st century success. Notre Dame's Career & Life Success Program develops a life path beyond college for each student, empowering them to identify and nurture their individual gifts and talents as they explore opportunities for the future.
“At Notre Dame there is an emphasis on creating women of impact. I strongly believe that the Notre Dame journey helps shape students into young women who are actively involved in the community and strive to create social change"

"In the AP Computer Science Principles class we learned how to write code and about the importance of technology. We used various platforms to further develop our understanding of coding and created our own applications using MIT App Inventor. We also created our own games using Greenfoot. The class took field trips to tech companies here in San Jose including Brocade and Adobe. I am extremely interested in a career in technology because of what this class offered and I know that the technology skills I have learned make me better prepared for college."

college counseling support for all juniors and seniors and their families
"The director of college counseling was very detailed about the college application process, testing, financial aid and scholarship. She helped identify schools my daughter can apply to and her chances of acceptance. She also discussed internship and summer program options with us and made my daughter feel at ease. My daughter learned a lot and she now feels more confident. We came out of our meeting feeling like someone was holding my child by hand, making sure she is successful in this college application process."
