STRATEGIC PLAN 2023-2026

SUPPORTING THOSE WHO NEED US

2

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Nottingham Forest Community Trust’s 2023-26 strategic plan.

In this document we look forward to, what we believe is, an exciting future for the organisation. At a time when more and more people in society need support, for increasingly varied reasons, we believe our organisation is well placed to provide this support.

We believe this because we’ve already been doing it for years and this experience allows us to deliver the support needed, when it is needed, where it is needed.

We believe we are well placed to support the community in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

We believe that we are now ready to progress even further as an organisation.

In order to do this, we need our organisation, the people we work with, the people we work for and anyone who comes into contact with Nottingham Forest Community Trust to understand who we are, what we do and how we do it.

3

OUR STORY SO FAR

Nottingham Forest have delivered community engagement programmes for 30 years.

In 2010 Nottingham Forest Community Trust was launched for the purpose of delivering significant positive impact for the benefit of local people.

The charitable arm of Nottingham Forest Football Club, the Trust plays a strategic role across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire supporting people and organisations to the best of our ability through strong Private, Public and Third sector partnerships.

As we work to implement our strategy, we are committed to both building upon our existing partnerships and forging new ones. We strongly encourage collaboration with local and national organisations as we believe that working together is essential to achieving our goals.

We do whatever we can to support our local community, and this goes way beyond football. We are proud of the achievements of Nottingham Forest Football Club, and the role that it has played in its communities since 1865.

We now want to do much more and continue supporting those who need us.

OUR STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

In order to deliver on our progressive objectives, our organisation is going to focus on delivering against three clear and easy to understand strategic priorities.

These are the areas that we believe can deliver the highest volume of - and most critical - support in the community across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. These strategic priorities have been informed using local insight and data along with our own knowledge and experience of community engagement over the past 30 years.

We want to build on these foundations and strive to create excellence in each of the following areas:

1. Significantly increase improvements in local people’s Health and Wellbeing.

2. Significantly increase opportunities for local people to access high quality education and training, leading to meaningful sustainable employment.

3. Significantly increase reach into our local communities through our delivery of Community Engagement programmes.

Support the reduction in levels of obesity amongst local people.

Support the improvement in local people’s mental health.

Create significantly increased opportunities for local people not in education, training or employment to access programmes and support that will help them achieve their potential.

Create significantly increased financial growth in support of a thriving local economy.

Create pathways for young people to access meaningful, sustainable employment.

Create programmes that support a significant reduction in the number of children and young people who are permenantly excluded from mainstream education.

20

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Positively engage with all our communities offering targeted support when and where it is needed.

Attract major investment into local areas to create improved football and multi-sport facilities and spaces.

Collaborate with national, regional, and local organisations to support the delivery of local strategic priorities.

Focus local investment to support reduction in levels of violent crime and anti-social behaviour amongst young people in our communities.

Develop increased knowledge and collaborate with local organisations to play a more effective role in tackling environmental challenges.

Our culture defines us, our people and motivates us to drive and deliver the results we aspire to.

We are an organisation that is responsive to change, echoing our mission, values and purpose.

We believe in creating more leaders and growing from within and we value all of our people’s contributions and ideas.

Through being accessible, committed and progressive, we will maintain high standards in everything that we do.

Our people have accountability and shared ownership which gives them the opportunity to have their voices heard and to be a part of the bigger picture.

We treat all people with fairness and respect, and truly believe in the power of diversity.

The three key values we look for in our people - accessible, committed and progressive.

Our people are accessible to all those who need them, committed to being their best, and progressive in their approach.

OUR COMMUNITY

We are committed to delivering positive change to as many individuals and groups as possible, collectively supporting and contributing to the greater good of our community.

Providing the best possible services and support is the reason we exist and why we serve our community.

Through continuous monitoring of local and national data we will effectively create positive impact by supporting those who need us most.

By working together with local and national partners, we can help to fund and promote programmes that drives physical activity, education, employment, and other essential initiatives in Nottinghamshire. Ultimately, our collective efforts can lead to a brighter future for our community, and we are proud to play a part in that journey.

With the support of Nottingham Forest Football Club, our board of trustees and our committed team, we will continue to instil positive change across the place we all call home.
